Session 37 (SE)

City of Dragons

General Summary

After harvesting the bodies of the various creatures they were able to slay within the beholder trove, the party returned to their newfound orcish prisoners. After some discussion about what their purpose was, they took these prisoners back to the ground floor with them. In time, they party instructed that the orcs venture south toward Jack's circus, where they would join as bodyguards as they traveled across the country.   The party spent a few minutes learning more from the dead beholder on the ground, before agreeing with Princess Valice's group to venture forth on their directive to the unseen lands of Avalon. They found themselves in the capital at Alexandria, a regal affair contained by massive walls, with a remarkable castle on a hill. The group was led to Wisteria Academy Aisleigh's university alma mater where Garroth and Korva set about to do some research. With accompaniment, Maul and Alia set out to explore the city of this strange land, one that openly used platinum as their main currency, and housed a very different culture than the one they were used to.   Garroth and Aisleigh spent a large portion of time discussing the implications of the Avalon group's tasks in and around the Ruby Kingdoms, with their intentions to let out the draconic gods as part of a prophesy to maintain the world's safety in a time of coming chaos. They also revealed that they had information relating to Eredeus' journal, which the group was hoping was obscure knowledge that had been left hidden after theiy buried the information in Kimberly. Aisleigh and Garroth also bonded over their interests in magic, and made an agreement to study together in the future, slowing becoming closer.   The group eventually spent a few idling hours in a tavern before being escorted for an audience with Queen Avalon herself. They were led into the extravagant Castle of Alexandria, and after a small briefing, met in the audience chamber. The party asked Queen Avalon for the ability to have more leeway with the quest to unlock the pyres, but this sole offer was refused; Queen Avalon, it seemed, saw the necessity to have the pyres open as soon as they are found. As a show of commeraderie she promised that when her crusaders found the pyre they would hold off upon lighting it and continuing the ritual for a week to allow the party to gather their thoughts. Queen Avalon also offered safety in whatever form they could as a form of protection in case things became severe with the government of the Ruby Kingdoms.   During this tense exchange, Korva had Hazard speak within his mind, finally making due on the favour that Korva had asked of him. Hazard gave him a small stone in his pocket, which he instructed Korva to leave in the throne room. As he did, Alia noticed, and asked about this, with Aisleigh patiently listening. He brushed this off as nothing, with Hazard plotting something secretly in the background as the group made their way away from the audience chamber into the castle.
