Episode 10

General Summary

Deep within the Pyreheart Temple, in a space older than many ages before them, the group rests and gathers their strength for any danger they may face. During their rest, Oxton seemed to have been alerted by something in her sleep. She and Kemuri left the security of their magical seclusion, with an insistence that she would be okay from Elúra.
When the group finished their rest, they found Kemuri waiting alone by a door with small receptacles filled with blood, assumably Oxton's. Jack attempted to donate his blood to the receptacle, but to no avail, as the door remained shut. In inspecting various large slabs around the room, Maul pried away one, revealing a strange hole, and stranger creatures from within. When goaded to come out, the creatures revealed themselves to be the caretakers of this place, two odd beasts with devlish teeth and many eyes. The beasts offered their treasure to the adventurers as long as they didn't create too much of a fuss. The party asked them many questions as one of the creatures led Crow, in his bird form, through a winding maze to a treasure trove. The creature procured a strange key before leaving.
In the central foyer, the group continued to interrogate the other creature and investigate the large platform in the center of the room. Garroth detected a magical essence, and seemed to associate - along with Korva's earlier worries - that this may be a similar pyre to the one they had encountered but a month prior. Jack decided the best thing to do was to excavate the crystal forcibly. Sure enough, upon doing so, the Pyre lit ablaze, just as the last had.
The strange gauths, none too pleased, then quickly revealed their plan, as they became hostile, and many gazers flooded into the room. The second gauth quickly used its key on the slab to reveal a helmed horror, which began to enter the fray just as Korva returned. In short order, all the beasts were dispatched, and safety was once again assured, with only the Pyre to light the room.
Soon thereafter, Oxton returned from the locked door, fragile, but no worse for wear. She explained her prayers from within the sanctum beyond, and had a strange statement: that a being from within desired to speak with Jack. Aloof, Jack entered. The beautiful sanctum was truly historical, with beautiful architecture abounding. However, the strange being decended forth, a mass of ooze all harboring faces upon tentacles. It beckoned to Jack in strange names, asking him for to enter an arrangement with this strange god. Jack simply refused, leaving the being to its wishes.
