Daya, The Mother Bear

(Refrain)   Call her name and call her now, O hold fast, have no fear. Call down Mama, she comes for thee, A proud Mama Bear.   Call her fast, and call her proud, You know that you'll be heard. Call upon Daya, with fangs and claws, She'd like to have a word.   Cradled in fur, warm and small, Daya holds her little cubs. But should you prod the bear right now, She'll throw you to the mud.   With claws and fangs, and terrible rage, They all kneel to her feet, For here at home, safe and sound, Her cubs can get some sleep.   (verse 1)   Once, long ago, Mama Daya was with child once more. Her belly big, and her face alight, she played cubs there on the floor. Here in the forest, life was great, given by the Goddess Neive. But was not as it seemed, for even the gods can be deceived.   It was then, by heaven, by hells, by strange pink light above, Like sunset came to early, like a mother's graceful love, It spread across the sky, spread like a shimmer shawl. Little did she know that day, Daya would lose it all.   (refrain)   (verse 2)   That day was different, so all just stared and stood. Nobody knew, that day, right there, it all was gone for good. For all the little girls, they were all told go to play, Don't grow up, little girls. As children you should stay.   And all the boys gathered, with axes and with knives, They sang the songs and roared along, ready to give their lives. But all cubs leave the cave, that's just the way it was, And all the boys, off to war, right into the beasts jaws.   (refrain)   (verse 3)   So it was, that Daya saw, her cave was all but empty. No singing voice, no children's play, now and everlasting.   Where are my cubs, I miss them so, where ever might they be? And then she learned, caught in pain, their lives were taken from thee.   In a fit of rage, Daya roared and growled, where are my little cubs? All this war, and her children no more. There, she began resenting!   Give them back, give them to me! I won't let you take them! By the babies within me now, to this I now condemn!   When she looked down, belly flat, no child to be beared. And as she cried, something new was there: a madness unrelenting.   You have taken song and daughters, all that I held true. With nothing left, and nothing gained, now I come for you.   (refrain)   (verse 4)   So she rode from fields of grass to streaks of clouds above, Riding fearless into battle, fighting for her love.   She rode to the gods, all ruffled away, who said no, you cannot go, She bore her axe, and growled aloud, and thus said make me.   She fought her way, tooth and nail, no god she couldn't beat. But in the end, they brought her down, right to her defeat.   But you know better, she can't give up, not a Mama to her cubs. Here and now, I call to you, finally I am free.   She calls to all, living and still, you will return to me. Mama Bear calls to you, Daya is the Mama for ye.   (refrain)   (finale)   And so it was, with all this loss, our Mama graced the skies. Standing strong and walking tall, and gift on all our lives. And so you know who to chant, the one defender to call. Mama Bear is there for you, and so she's here for all.   SO SHE'S HERE FOR ALL. SO SHE'S HERE FOR ALL.

Personal history

Daya was once the matron of a khan, in a long line of royals within a large khanate. She had lived a largely humble life, taking to the side of her husband both in times of peace and war. However, when the Xirasía was enacted, she was caught during the event during pregnancy. She was one of the first generation of orcs to bear so many stillborn, until it was realized just how severe the actions of the Elves.   She wept, she groveled. But she did not beg to the Heavens. She instead was filled with rage. Devoting herself to Tyrant, she inherited the khanate from her weak husband, and led a warpath across the lands, not in defense and not in glory, but in retribution. On the fields of battle, she was graced by the Demon King, and ascended, slaying all who stood in her path, before taking to the Heavens to seek balance for all Orcish mothers.   Daya is venerated throughout Orcish culture as the Matron Mother, and worshiped almost without exception. However, she has also become a god that resonates with mothers of all cultures, surprisingly popular within Elvish culture as well despite Daya's inherent rage upon Elves. Daya is also venerated by Avian, Dragonborn, and Tiefling cultures, who see her as a god to stand against Elven hegemony.
