A group of explorers travel to the desert islands and become genies. The Quiet Age ends and the Age of Conquest begins.

A group of humans from the Eastern Stormfields, including Al-Amio, traveled to desert islands west of the Mellowfields in Ariandra. They were caught in a massive sandstorm which rent the air and tore through the land, and the magic of the desert took hold in each member of the company, twisting them into ethereal spirit-like genies. The new genies developed magic tied to light and smoke, and decided to settle an opulent palace far from the cacaphonous world in an oasis at the center of the largest island.
