Blood Strike

This spell is a Bloodmagic spell which infuses the caster's normal weapon attack with eldritch power that drains away the target's life force. It is one of the simplest bloodmagic spells, but also very useful. A relatively short ritual is required compared to other similar bloodmagic spells. The Song of Life and Magic mentions it numerous times as a beginning spell useful for war.

Effect

The caster can infuse their attack with the pent-up magic and unleash extra power on their target. The creature attacked withers as it's life force is drawn away into the cycle to replace the life force expended to produce the spell. Undead creatures are instantly killed by this spell as the false life energy that keeps it animate is ripped away, and it can't be made undead again, though it can be resurrected.

Side/Secondary Effects

Using this spell on undead is dangerous, as it tests the caster's physical fortitude to withstand from their life energy getting sucked away. If you botch this spell, you must use incredible physical and mental constitution to keep from accidentally targeting yourself and ripping your animating force from your own body. The caster suffers no ill effects from this spell, as the life force expended has been matched and both have reentered the cycle.

Manifestation

The weapon or your fist glows dark red and the crimson aura spills out onto the target as you strike. A yellow glowing liquid flows from the target's wound for a moment to mix with the red fluid before both disappear in a flash of smoke. A loud bang can be heard when you connect and as the yellow fluid mixes with the red, a strange slurping noise ensues.

Source

The power for this spell is drawn from the blood sacrifice focused by your chanting and other material components.
Material Components
The material components for this spell are:
  1. A small amount of blood from the caster, an animal, or another humanoid, because it's blood magic and requires life force sacrifices
  2. The weapon or piece of ammunition used to attack, to bind the focused magic to it
  3. A healthy and wilted flower, both preferably yellow, to represent life and death energy
  4. A bowl of water and a piece of glass, to focus the magic
  5. A piece of string, to bind the spell to the weapon
  6. A pinch of ashes, to represent the target's body
  7. An incense stone and incense, for the blood sacrifice
Gestures & Ritual
The caster must first meditate for five minutes with the bowl in one hand and the glass in the other, to prepare them for focusing the magic. Next, they cover the incense stick in blood and light it on the incense stone while grinding the wilted flower up with the ashes. After that, the flower/ash mixture is used to cover entirely the healthy flower and then tossed into the flames. The burning incense must be held above the piece of glass above the bowl so the light from the flames goes through the glass and into the water. Then, the string is dipped in the water and tied around the weapon. It turns the color of blood and won't fall off and can't be cut off until the spell ends.
