Magic Chainmail

A material closing resembling real life's chiffon. Sheer and very durable, you wouldn't even know this item has magical properties at all at first glance.

Properties

Material Characteristics

It's a sheer, lightweight fabric. In its base form comes in white, but can be dyed easily to become the wearers desired color.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Acts like a second, thicker skin for the wearer. Impenetrable by almost everything but cursed items, and powerful black magic. Also has a distinct metal, almost wind chime, sound when the wearer is struck.

Compounds

Made from a special type of silkworm silk, being kept in the palace's garden. Though these creatures can also be found in the wild. Where though is classified information, but due to palace climate, it is presumed to be high altitude, lush places.

Origin & Source

A special type of silkworm. The way you can distinct regular silkworms from these silkworms is their pink underbellies.

Life & Expiration

The fabric will eventually be worn down after many uses, such as going into battle after battle, day after day, but such an occurrence is rare and it'll usually take a year or two for the fabric to reach close to this point. Leaving residual blood on the cloth also eats away at the fabric slowly, due to a reaction the material has with blood. As such it will need repairing everyone once in a while. Can only be repaired with materials from the same silkworms. Repairing with normal thread has a chance to unravel the whole garment.
Odor
The silk alone has a faint but sweet scent. Though once it is started to be worked with the scent fades.
Color
Typically white, but can be dyed any color in the rainbow.
Boiling / Condensation Point
Fabric can be burned if exposed to heats of 1400 degress ferenhiet or more.
Melting / Freezing Point
The fabric does not freeze but if worn long enough in low enough colds can higher the likelyhood of wearer getting hypothermia.
