Queen of Ashes

The Queen of Ashes, Althene, wants powerful objects to open a gateway from another dimension to free herself and her army of planar beings after a great catastrophe destroyed the continent of Estamere to seal them away. She is hindered by the efforts of the Red Blades of Kath, and she must open the gateway by the 500th year anniversary of her first demise or be trapped forever.   Theme: The past must be confronted, but it can never be recaptured   After the 500th year anniversary, Althene will be sealed because the seal will have gathered enough magic from the surrounding area after the catastrophe that it will be unbreakable. If she removes the magic from certain areas to slow the sealing and collects the pieces of her staff, she will break free.   Once she has broken free, she will absorb the magic that was keeping her there and rebuild her perfectly constructed empire of old.
