Military action
"The word 'butchery' is commonly associated with the battle. Neither side would give in, and the commanders were set for death or glory.
With the Fringe being pierced by the Taergaledian army, the Blood Red Tide went on to march *east* and not north in order to raid and pillage s much of the lowlands between Issqar and Tvbéra as possible-- even hoping to connect the fronts of Fringe, and Haevn'dan, which had been thus far separated bridgeheads divided by some four hundreds miles. However, the army, commanded by L'ostav the Elder, faced a nightmarish task in first dislodging the professional Vaerg'varan army from their base of operations protecting the linking road between Issqar and Tvbéra. Instead of striking at their fortified bases, the Royal Army marched further and further east, burning and killing as it went-- this turned the local population strictly against the Taergaledians. The Kiri took in refugees and spread the worth of the Royal terror; these men were not here to forcibly recruit or merely conquer, but to *cleanse* as they sought to do during the Plague, which saw the Fringe struck shut.
The armies finally met very near the Khórr estate, in the hilly riverside leading toward the East-West road to Tvbéra. The word 'butchery' is commonly associated with the battle. Neither side would give in, and the commanders were set for death or glory, yet Khórr took the advantage early in deploying in the woods, and not suffering the Taergaledian army to bring their formidable artillery to bear. Only the very westernmost reach of the battlefield was suitable for heavy artillery, with cow-trails leading seemingly to nowhere, and the center being dominated by a thicket, and the right, a more open place with two small farms. This is where the battle formally began, as forward Wolfpacks staked their claim on the buildings' cover: soon, there was a thrust onto the farms, and a powerful assault took the right by a storm, and L'ostav went on to assault Khórr on his left. This proved difficult, as the ground was that harsh-- vicious fighting took place in the woods, with the Kiri holding the advantage, only pulling out in good order after being almost overwhelmed.
By 1330, the armies took a short breather, recon being committed to on both sides: probing attacks on the Khórr right lead to a fire fight between Kiri artillery, and the Taergaledian one, with a full attempt to pincer the smaller Khórr force following in 1415, with both the river-side and meadow Taergaledians making an attempt to decide the battle. However, the thicket in the middle was where Khórr himself had stood, and now knowing the enemy was advancing on the right, and stuck in the woods on his left, went on to audaciously strike the enemy center. His roughly 13 000 regulars and Vaerg'varan professional soldiers marched to the Monument of Týoll and surprised the center at 1600, with flares being shot up everywhere the lines connected. Seeing this, the Corps commander in the Riverside virtually panicked, and ordered to reform at the Farm, only to find the Khórrian main force already there. His drafted men, now exhausted, began to surrender, and eventually men were jumping into the shallow river, looking to run, being shot down by the hundreds.
The battle cost both sides dearly, with Khórr being the clear victor with far fewer dead and a stronger army from new recruits, now chasing down the Taergaledians, looking to meet their own reinforcements to reach them in two weeks.
