Captain-General of Issqar

The commander in chief of Issqaran armies de facto, the Captain-General is able to bypass much of the cloth involved in nobility, as well as faith, in order for the greater will of the Kiri Houses to emerge-- or survive. The bestowing of yon rank Captain, also known as the Grand Wolf, is the ultimate show of trust, and is known to bring envy, and the will of his subjects to overthrow him, kill him - and his line.
Issqar is often at war. This has been true for hundreds of years, if not close to a thousand. Empires have risen and fallen, at times centered in Issqar, other times looking to incorporate yon lands belonging to the Kiri, and destroy the local customs, culture and the major noble houses, either by cutting the line by the blade, or disgrace. At times non-Issqaran nobles have risen to cast down the Captain-General, if he is at all weak or there is a scent of timidness. For the Grand Wolf is often to become a Father after death, and the deeds in life and especially in dying are crucial in creating an inspiring soul to light the way for all his cousins in the decades and centuries to come.

Requirements

The most famous of yon Grand Wolves, was the Father of Harkgan, or Khórr, Orkhelan Týoll-Anmura, can be seen an archetype of yon rank. What made him a paragon? He was a brave soldier, and a great warrior-- which any fool from Tvbéra, brave enough to face an archer from the front can say. Loads of yon such men line the bowels of any city, they can be bought from a valley of thugs with silver, like a whore.
More important for the Venerated Father was, that he was sharp. He could out-think university professors, and knew roughly as much as yon gentle librarian, for the librarian seldom left his temple to experience. This was a major component in his election as well - he had lived through times which would kill lesser men easily, and have the tough and the iron-willed submit or break.
The most important for the Captain-General being bestowed upon yon Týoll was, that he would make the right choice no matter what, and drive always to preserve the Kiri-- his most famous deed was the liberation of his sole heiress, alone and poorly armed, from the clutches of yon Caradian bishop, the abysmally corrupted excuse of a faithful, Taeteier. He saw the enemy in Taergaled, the man-hunters of whom were after him at the Lithern Pulpet's behest. And he succeeded not only in rescuing his beloved daughter, but marrying her to the Harkgan's eldest, with the two brothers to follow from the union splitting to become houses Harkgan and Khórr. Major houses in Issqar, who played a pivotal part in world history.
Indeed, this is amongst the qualities expected of a Grand Wolf: the raw ability to change history on a grand-scale. The Duke Harkgan was famously made the Grand Wolf in private, as a blessing from the druids-- few deeds will gain the scorn of the Land, as long as the Land in venerated and never despoiled for profit. It was a carté blanche to act as the Harkgan willed. The ultimate symbol of trust to a mortal man.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The Grand-Wolf will only leave office upon dying - sword, age or disease, with the middle one being least likely.

Equates to
Few ranks, as is, equate to that of the Grand Wolf-- one has to possess the trust of yon people, and the military and the druids all, in order to be recognized, and not sit as if on a chair fashioned of bayonets. 'Sit on it, will ya?' mocked a druid the Duke Harkgan, very early into his regime.
One is no priest, nor precisely a member of royalty, or even nobility. The Captain-General is a symbol, and possesses great say in politics. He is often a Botanist as well, bringing the issue of education and wits, simply put, to table. The rank can be seen as the true best and brightest of all Issqari, how have been elected to represent. Think of the rank of dictator in the Roman republic-- however, the Grand Wolf is less direct in power, rather extremely honorific and prestigious, with the heirs of whom reaping the true profit.

The Captain-General bases his power on long tradition, and his sheer ability.
Length of Term
A Captain-General is to serve until dead-- after death, he could well live on as a paragon Father.
