Races of Pyrinas

Dwarf: A thousand years trading with and living among the humans has turned what was once a reserved race of mountain dwellers into a vital part of society. Equally comfortable underground or above ground. Dwarves have established themselves as great artisans and military leaders. (No Duergar) Hill Dwarf = Artisan Mountain = Military   Elf: Elves are the eldest race. They have lived in voluntary exile since the dawn of humanity. However, within the last few hundred years, ambassadors have been integrated into the majority society. This is partly due to Elven leaders seeing the inevitability of conflict, and partly as oversight of the recent innovations that the Human led society has made in technology. Elves have long kept the secrets of wizardry to themselves, and refuse to share it with any other race. (No Drow) Eladrin = Recluse (Rare) High = City Sea = Coastal (Rare) Wood = Army   Gnome: Gnomes have existed almost as long as the elves. They've only recently incorporated into the majority of society as the advancements of human artificers has opened up a market ripe for their natural born talents. Some gnomes even believe the humans stole the ideas of the Gnomes and may seek to prove so. Gnomes have a unique connection to magic, and thusly are the only race able to manifest magical powers similar to those produced by the elves. (No Deep) Forest = Recluse Rock = City   Halfling: Halflings were once believed to be the offspring of Dwarves and Humans. However, recent advances in scientific methods have proven that impossible. Halfling society is clan-based, with their society being split mainly between the merchant houses and the seafarers. Halfling settlements dot the coastlines, however, all trade with halfling society occurs through Human cities, as the halflings are distrustful of modern organized societies and discourage visitation by other races. The clan-like nature of Halflings encourages their martial prowess to lean towards the path of the barbarian. (No Ghostwise) Lightfoot = Merchant Clan Stout = Seafarer Clan   Human: Humans are the most abundant race in the known world. Their endless pursuit of knowledge has led them to create some of the most important technological advancements in the known world. Though capable of pursuing almost any career, humanity is unique in having access to tonal magics which they produce via musical performances. These magics are unstable and often create unexpected results. However, they have been able to master certain schools of magic. (No Variant)   Tiefling/Aasimar: (Rare) Those touched by the gods are extremely rare. Stories of creation vary wildly among the different societies, with no real consensus ever being reached. Society as a whole holds a rather agnostic perspective. The fact that the god-touched even exist at all is the only proof of outside influence. Those touched by the gods are free to pursue their own path. However, they are also the only beings known to be capable of channeling divine magic. This often leads to them being sources of either reverence or disdain depending on their actions.   Warforged: The Warfoged of this world have not gained their independence as they have not developed to the point of sentience. However, a player may play a Warforged character if they choose. However, they will be beholden to either an NPC or another PC as their instructor. Without sentience, Warfoged cannot cast spells and are limited to purely martial classes.   Other races:   All other races either do not exist on this world or are not known to exist by the primary civilization and thusly are unable to be a PC race at this time. As the game-world progresses, new races may be discovered and "unlocked" for future characters of campaigns.   Half-breeds:   Elves, dwarves, and humans are all genetically incapable of inter-breeding. Science or magic may be able to accomplish this someday, but it is very far ahead of current technology and magic.   Underdark Races:   Races specific to the traditional Underdark are not known to exist on Pyrinas. The world of Pyrinas is still very much geologically active. Though it has been spared cataclysm level eruptions, the constant activity below the crust has made habitability of the deepest parts impossible due to heat and pressure.
