the Johannes

Origins

Family legends claim that the ancestral Johannes were some of the first to follow the Mysteron and as such deserve a prominent place in his graces. More likely than not, the Johannes was just one of many Families to heed him at the beginning. Earliest records held by this Family record their arrival to where they reside now, the Turinys valleys. The records say that the Family saw it as a perfect land, and saw it as their mission from the Mysteron to settle the area.

Modern Day

General Information

The Johannes is the second most prominent Family on this side of the Sky-Splitters and has a large number of splinter Families due to its strict marriage vows. They have expanded to cover most of the three Turinys valleys and have built a limited city with wooden buildings and some cave systems.

Size

The Johannes family tree has extended to nearly 20,000 people, without including the splinter Families. There are nearly twenty separate family units that are only two or three generations removed from the central family. Despite their large numbers, the Family has failed to achieve total prominence over the rival Families due to their lack of common focus. The central family of the Johannes has failed to push their tribe in progressive directions, and they have poor leadership quality. There have been significant pushes from other families to change tradition in order to install a new, more effective, central family. However, the Besks (the central family surname) and their allies have pushed strongly against any of these efforts.

Significant Events

In the past, the Johannes Family has sent a large number of explorers into the Hard Lands in an effort to discover the coveted Mysterios artifacts that could give them an advantage. In the course of one of these expeditions, the explorers discovered a Mysterios artifact detailing what appeared to be a weapon of great power, one that could send light like that of the sun in beams to vanquish opponents. The Johannes soon christened this weapon as the Godsbeam and told the other Families of their findings, but none investigated further as they were in a time of universal peace.
