Pryston Protectors - Earth

Fifty years ago, the American government hired specialized geneticists to perform human experiments on willing volunteers in order to improve militaries to the point of past "Super Soldiers." The "Super Soldiers" in the past were humans that had been born with intense powers that usually differed from one person to the other. No one, not even the Soldiers, knew how these powers took ahold of the body. These experiments involved activating a "super gene" that would immediately take effect once began.   Geneticists found that these super genes could occasionally be passed down from generation to generation, and often had a better chance of doing so if the family members had similar or the same powers. Unfortunately, some of the volunteers, their power too much for them to handle, decided to use their abilities for bad rather than good, and became out of control. Seeing the dangers of continuing the experiments, the government shut down the laboratories and recalled all volunteers. However, through the efforts of some volunteers, they concealed themselves by either going into hiding or infiltrating the system itself, making sure that no more efforts to find the volunteers would be found.   Sometimes, though rarely, regular children are still born with abilities. Currently, the volunteers have either passed away, have had children, or have gathered into gangs to avoid persecution. The government still puts out searches for the volunteers, and encourages others to report any "Supers" to their local police station. The gangs of supers usually congregate in large cities to avoid being found out easily. Current gangs in Pryston City, sister city to Chicago and our setting, include the Iron Men, the Order of Apollo (thought to be disbanded), the Diamond Dodgers, and the Coyotes.
