Jildun

Jildun, first and only son of Senator Empirate Jolvus, is Fraine's best friend and combat buddy.   Very early, Kildun and Fraine crossed paths at the Imperial academy for young men. Both were enrolled in the military program, though Fraine felt more drawn to the strategy side of things. From age 4-10, they stood at each others' backs and lived like brothers.   When Ganian and Morva died, Jildun took Fraine into the palisades to live with him and his father. He mourned with him, as if they were his parents as well, and even took the blue stripes when each passed.   At 16, Jildun found himself a third wheel to Fraine and Lonai and took to more political pursuits. He wanted to be Senator Empirate when his father passed and wouldn't allow Gailleus the opportunity to refute his ineritance of the position.   When Fraine died, Jildun went into hiding, merely taking the blue stripe and espressing his sorrow. He didn't know how to react, and missed several Senatorial conventions. Naturally, upon his return, he was ecstatic. But something was off. He ventured into the wilds one night to clear his mind when he was ambushed.   Cultists of Synioz (so they said, but they were actually those of Sha'ik) drug him to their temple for a sacred rite of summoning. There, a piece of sangwood was plunged into his heart, a watchweed lens planted in his eye socket, and corrupting drossweed into his mind. Slowly, the drossweed burned his brain, the sangwood revuilt his body of wood, and the watchweed gave him new vision. He was not Jildun anymore.   When Fraine discovered his brother had been corrupted, he broke into the midimension to free his soul. There, he grappled with the beast within Jildun. It had grown, fueled by whatever compelled the cultists to create it, and made a new beast altogether. Nonetheless, Fraine killed it, leaving Jildun very weak.   Jildun was taken to Malvu, who was able to implant Amalginum in the places wood had left gaps, and gave him a new heart and eye. But Jildun still had lost all his memories up to around 17 years old. He was scared and upset.   Nonetheless, he resumed his duties as Senator Empirate until it became necessary for him to investigate the mirewoods of Oomos. He was hesitant, but figured the exercise may help with his memory. Lonia sent a reference table with him.   In the mirewood, Jildun came across Liim, who the tablet said was a Gomun, a man-eater. But she didn't. She kept him safe, taught him about the terrain... until Fraine and Lonia crashed the Greyback trying to catch up to him. Here, Fraine and Jildun discussed the ramifications of Liim coming back to Kandaria.   Liim returned with the group and Jildun announced his engagement to her a few months later. In the time being, she was kept in the palisades while the Senate debated his relationship with her. Before they could be married, Synioz returned, prompting the Kanherian Pact of Unity, in which Liim served as a court member in Rhomeria, under Tuline.   After the final battle for Kandaria, Jildun and Liim retired into obscurity in the wilds of the mirewood, in an effort to keep themselves secluded and inspire others to do the same.
