Project Sci-5e

Ever heard someone say, "there are better systems then D&D to do sci-fi settings," well, they are probably right, but forget that, I am here to prove that D&D 5e is easily adjusted for your every sci-fi need. Whether your group does not branch out from D&D, you have tried other systems and been disappointed, or just want to mix it up a bit and not learn a entirely new system: Project Sci-5e is for you.   In this "world" I will establish a baseline setting and narrative to work from, but if you want to just take bits and pieces from the stat blocks, that is perfectly fine. After all, the stat-blocks and tables are the biggest part. My hope is to have all the same classes and sub-classes, but with redesigned aesthetics to better fit a sci-fi world. The armor table is pretty much a one for one copy of 5e, but with new names and rounded weights. The weapon table is very similar, with only small adjustments and a substantial number of weapons removed. All items have had a strength requirement added, this is a completely custom system that is intended to make weight tracked simpler, and is completely optional.   I am as of yet unsure of what to do for spells, there will still be magic and spells, but I am debating turning some into "spell-like abilities." This would mean for instance, burning hands could be a flamethrower. I am open to suggestions and ideas. I am going to attempt and creating an entire spaceship system from scratch. If this does not work, I'm probably going to start copying stuff out of Car Wars to make for a fun system. I am going to create all new backgrounds, but will be diligent about staying true to the balancing of the original backgrounds. Two skill proficiency, some sort of tool proficiency, an RP feature, and some starting equipment.   wordsmithactuallyPlease feel free to post or comment on anything I have, I am hoping that having people watching and following will help push me forward.
