The Raptor Incident

A data log of █████████ ███████████'s expedition into the Savanna biome of Primordia, recorded by Botanist ██████ ██████████, Zoologist █████ ███████, and Meteorologist █████████ ████. The log lasts fifty hours.

Hour 1: Touchdown, Base of Operations is deployed, erecting a central resedential headquarters, a zoology reasearch pod, a botany pod, and a meteorology pod for the respective scientists to conduct research on Primordia.   Hour 3: Meteorologist █████████ ████ reports that the Savanna's oxygen level is higher than that of Earth's, but not enough to warrant a respirator, and that the atmospheric pressure on Primordia is slightly lower than on Earth. It was deduced that the conditions on Primordia were similar to that of the Pleistocene era on Earth, and that the animals from the Mesozoic that have been found on Primordia, had adapted to tolerate these atmospheric changes.   Hour 5: Zoologist █████ ███████ reports "finally," seeing her first group of animals, composed of a mixture of Mesozoic and Pleistocene terrestrial herbivores, accounting two different herds: A herd of Centrosaurus, feeding on roots near the river bed, and a herd of Paraceratherium feeding from the trees within the grasslands. Both herds likely having different diets. Members from each herd had very limited, yet peaceful interactions with each other, and ███████ comments that each animal interacting with one another despite the millions of years' difference between them was breathtaking.   Hour 10: Botanist ██████ ██████████ reports the flora of the Savanna is composed of tall grasslands, and acacia trees, with rivers that web through the biome, with seemingly no end in sight. His drone had reached it's controlling distance of 100 meters, and had come across several rivers with wide shorelines. He deduced the Savanna they currently resided in resembled that of South Africa.   Hour 13: Zoologist █████ ███████ makes the first reporting of a dromaeosaurid, "Utahraptor," stalking her team from within the tall grass. After consulting video security footage at the Zoology pod and running it through a thermal filter, she deduced the Utahraptor had been stalking the group for several hours before she noticed it, likely hunting prey, before being distracted by the colony, and investigating.   Hour 20: Meteorologist █████████ ████ tells Zoologist █████ ███████ that he saw two more Utahraptors returning from a trip down to a nearby river to collect a water sample, and states that they did not approach him, but instead watched him, and followed him from a distance, he even mentioned that he shouldn't have shouted them to go away, but he did, and wasn't surprised when they didn't listen.   Hour 30: Zoologist █████ ███████ makes the first report of the day noticing the Utahraptors stalking the border of their research colony were vocalizing, and makes a personal comment that it sounds eerily similar to a masculine, human voice.   Hour 33: Meteorologist █████████ ████ reports that light rain occurred in the morning, and that he left his boots outside, studiying the condition of his own boots, he reported the rain water was very clean, with little to no acidity present at all.   Hour 35: Botanist ██████ ██████████ reports that the rain was very good for the plants, but otherwise, nothing of note occured, and commented he spent more time worriying about the Utahraptors, than photosynthesis.   Hour 37: Botanist ██████ ██████████ raises an alarm after hurrying back to the resedential pod that a Utahraptor had entered the colony. He left his Botany pod, and found a Utahraptor accidentally knocking over a supply crate trying to learn what it was. Upon seeing it, he sprinted into the Resedential pod, and told his colleagues to wait until it left.   Hour 37:28: Meteorologist █████████ ████ and Zoologist █████ ███████ hurridly run to the resedential pod.   Hour 37:30: The Colony is placed on lockdown.   Hour 37:39: Botanist ██████ ██████████ makes an evacuation request to █████████ ███████████, and the request is granted, stating that an evacuation team will arrive to retrieve them within 72 hours.   Hour 40: Meteorologist █████████ ████ develops cabin-fever and becomes restless, and unreasonable, unfortunately resulting in a physical altercation with Botanist ██████ ██████████, commenting he "plant his ass on the couch," and leaves through the front door of the resedential pod, with hunting rifle for fresh air.   Hour 40:02: Both Botanist ██████ ██████████ and Zoologist █████ ███████ give a horrifying report of Meteorologist █████████ ████'s last moments being ambushed and a mauled alive by a group of Utahraptors waiting within the colony, he prepared to fire at a raptor near the botany pod, but was pounced ontop of, and placed in raptor prey restraint by a Utahraptor waiting on the roof of the resedential pod.   Hour 40:12: Zoologist █████ ███████ begrudgingly reports that the raptors fought over the remains of her colleague, and states that the raptors do not portray pack-hunting behavior at all, but rather demonstrate minor cooperative behavior, akin to a loose gang. She also comments that she plans to quit █████████ ███████████ upon extraction, and damns them to Hell for ever sending her and her team to Primordia.   Hour 40:32: Botanist ██████ ██████████ tries to contact █████████ ███████████ about what they will do with Meteorolgist █████████ ████'s remains, and is met with silence.   Hour 40:40: Botanist ██████ ██████████ complains about the Utahraptors vocalizing outside the resedential pod, and begins to show signs of cabin fever.   Hour 40:43: Botanist ██████ ██████████ claims to hear Meteorolgist █████████ ████'s voice outside the front door of the resedential pod, despite Zoologist █████ ███████'s objections, stating that it was not Meteorolgist █████████ ████'s voice he was hearing, but Botanist ██████ ██████████ refused to listen, and opened the front door to the resedential pod, to which he was immediately pounced ontop of by a Utahraptor, and torn apart in the doorway, allowing others to invade the resedential pod, and attack Zoologist █████ ███████, killing them both.   Hour 50: Successful Extraction.
