Mizzix, as a young(er) goblin really looked up to Dos. Dos didn’t like to fight, didn’t like to raid, he just liked to build. And he taught Mizzix how to build and make wondrous creations. Mizzix was a good student, making wondrous items like his "Big-man boots" which could make him 6 feet tall and his "Bully Smasher" which could launch elemental "bombs" to stop anyone in their tracks.
When Dos left the goblin tribe to find a better way, Mizzix followed his master, anxious to learn more and create new devices. The thing is, Mizzix wasn’t quite as passive as his master. While he shared an urge to build, he also loved to make things explode. While Dos pushed for creations like the boots, Mizzix would rather spend his time messing with his bomb slinger and creating new things to launch. MIzzix also learned a bit of alchemy from Mezque, another goblin on the run, and began to master alchemic creations to be launched from his slinger. Mizzix just made more and more inventions that were based on weapons and bombs.
Dos worries about Mizzix falling in like other goblins. If Mizzix stayed in the tribe, his devices would help goblins raid and kill. Dos also knew that Mizzix could not move into town with him, for Mizzix was not good at staying still, nor not causing mischief. Dos cared for the small goblin, but Mizzix would not help with the introduction into a human city. Eventual Mizzix would make (another) bomb and set it off somewhere he should not. And so he recommended young Mizzix travel with their saviors, those who help introduce them to their new home, as a repayment. This way Mizzix could learn from the goodly races (and not goblins) and still get to make his toys. Just hopefully he won’t destroy the boat...
Mizzix, meanwhile, has his own plans separate for Dos's plans for him. Mizzix does want to build, and does want to make more weapons of war. He dreams of making anything to help with his one true god, the red flower, fire. But more importantly, he wants his name shouted from the rooftops. He has seen Dos get little for his boring clockwork animals. Mizzix dreams of fame and his weapons being made in mass, his name stamped on each one. With this fame all will see that Mizzix is the greatest goblin, and the others in the tribe telling him to not play with the flame will learn that he is better, that he is smarter, that he should be the one kicking them!!!! He hopes to never look back at the tribe, but become a big man in a big house with all the food and money and fire. These thoughts have driven him to work through his mishaps (which is why he is scarred and why he is missing some fingers) and drive him to want to explore to find better tools, better materials, and spread his name and materials. With this he often makes a big deal about the names of things he made and stresses that they are HIS creations
