High Summer 3019, Day 26 - Riftforged Factory

General Summary

For full descriptions of the rooms and areas where the party travels through see the Metal Dome article      Upon arriving on the other side of the metal dome, taking in their new surroundings, Elric observes the local wildlife and find some plants that are reminiscent of those found in the more northern regions of Aevrela (DC 16 Nature check).    While Elric and the others have their back to the molten metal dome, taking in their new surroundings, Walter goes to touch the dome with his hand - the hand that is now covered in arcane runes and his cursed sword Raz'Gammon comes out of - but nothing happens. He only feels the strange cool, slightly viscous flowing, metal dome. Walter summons Raz'Gammon, the tattoos flowing down his arm and solidifying into a black metal sword, backs up from the dome, goes to touch the dome with is sword, when the other members of the party take notice of his action, insisting that he does not touch the magic dome that they have limited knowledge about with the clearly cursed sword that they also have limited knowledge about, and Walter concedes.    The party begins traveling towards the switchback path and the only building that they see - the strange metallic building shimmering in the setting sun, placed in front of a waterfall. Thirty minutes later, they arrive at the top of the switchback path, the sun has set and the night is dark. About 100 feet down from where they stand is the building, about 200 feet from the pool of water the waterfall has formed.    Seeing the width of the switchback path (wide enough for a single cart to make its way down), they decide to continue down in the dark. Halfway down, the party gets their first experience that they aren't where they came from - giant goats, with 'baby goats' that are the size of a normal goat. However, this was no problem or concern as Lithoniel casts speak with animals, letting the goats know that they mean no harm. To which the goats responded, "stay clear of the kids," but let them pass.   The party arrives at the metal building, where they find piles of scrap metal on what we know of in modern times as a conveyor belt. The metal appears to be steel, not the same color as the blue steel as Millie, so it does not quite appear to be the same as what the riftforged are made out of, but Walter pockets a piece of the metal.    Effie pushes the bright red button in the observatory area, and nothing happens.   From the forge area they find metal ingots, about one foot by two feet, and six inches thick, they leave them for now, but plan on retrieving some before they leave the factory.
