High Summer 3019, Day 26 - Disappearing, Growing Swords and a Molten Dome

General Summary

OOC Discussion - 5e Updates

Discussion about the revision of the Feat: Revenant Blade and the new Warforged

Back to the Session

Level up! Walter wakes up, freaking out that his sword is no longer wrapped in a piece of cloth and he was no longer holding on to it. Surprised, yet happy that he is done with his "penance".  Until he notices that he has a large tattoo on his arm - lines in a series of swirls and runes going all the way up his arm. When the lines and runes flow down his arm, forming Raz'Gamon, now a greatsword, in his hands.  Walter admits that the first time he touched the sword he blacked out. Effie questions what happened when he blacked out. Walter, "...as you remember I was an archeologist." He was in an area named Bel'Gamon, an area where they knew small bits of ruins, as they dug, they found lots of bodies as if a battle took place in the area - which Walters now questions. They found a pure black dagger with a ruby in the hilt. Walter and Eric excited to show, Walter picked it up and "everything kindof stops there. That's...kindof my last memory for a while." When I woke up, I had a good amount of blood around, although I didn't seem to be injured. I was holding a black shortsword and everyone was dead. That is why I know it is cursed. The school sent a representative, everyone was impressed that Walter somehow survived, it wasn't until later though that he fully realized what happened. He just knew somehow, that he had to hide the blade. He told everyone he knew nothing of what happened. It is when he returned when he started getting feelings from the sword, as if it were trying to instruct him. Since it was no longer controlling me, I wanted to take it as far away as possible, and then destroy it. He knows it was rather hungry at the time and suspects that is why it overtook. Before I left the school, I did a lot of research on how to destroy magic weapons, especially one of this power. Tried a few simple methods to destroy it, such as a blacksmith.  The rest of the party argued that he did not really try to destroy it. He could just dump it in the bottom of the ocean. He argues that it would just be recovered again.
You are too curious about the blade
— Lithoniel
If we find a way to destroy it. I would like to destroy it...I have yet to find out how to do that.
— Walter
You don't know if you are doing exactly what the blade wants you
— Lithoniel
I don't know |Walter[/quote]
I didn't tell others because I was scared that someone would take it from me...and the same thing would happen again.
— Walter
As long as I keep it happy, it doesn't attack
— Walter
How do we not know that you aren't being manipulated by the sword right now?
— Effie
Thankfully, I am surrounding myself by people that are as powerful or more powerful than me. Just don't touch it if you kill me.
— Walter
I guess I trust you...but considering you haven't let us dry in our sleep, I guess you are doing something right
— Effie
I think I have mastered its...pull.
— Walter
You haven't, but we will help
— Willumin
If we find a way to destroy it, we will destroy it.
— Walter
(Reminder to players) The boat is moving, but we need to go back to our goblin friends.
If we have to destroy the arm to destroy the sword, we will destroy the arm, right? We are in agreement with that?...We can give you a hook - classy.
— Willumin
They all eat breakfast. Effie discovers that she has the ability to cast mage hand now. Saying that she has a way that she can touch it without touching it.    Walter gives Millie the gem that he wedged from the golden globe and asks Millie if they have any thoughts on the gem.
I'm not very good with the smart stuff.
— Millie

The Dome

Each of the party members interacts with the dome in different ways. Effie pokes the dome with her newly discovered mage hand. The dome ripples as if the way water would flow when it is poke. The mage hand then tries to grab some of the metal, it scrapes across it, grabbing nothing. Lithoniel casts Divine Sense, finds that the ground is sacred to some degree, Willumin casts detect poison and disease finding nothing, and Elrik casts detect magic.
Cant wait for you to get blind again.
— Willumin to Elrik when he goes to cast detect magic on the dome.
Elrik blinds himself once again. Walter pokes the dome with his 10 foot pole - like poking the wall, but it ripples like water. He then goes to poke the dome with the gem that he pulled from the globe - the one that appeared to be of the same make as the gem in Millie. When pressing the gem against the dome, it ripples and pulls away from the gem, making a hole the size of a quarter into the dome as the liquid metal. "Millie...Could you come and touch the dome?" Walter asks  Millie wanting to attack the dome itself, walks over and slaps it. The molten metal parts as if Millie slashed into it, pulling away, making a large opening into the dome. The slash flows back together over time, closing. Millie then put their hand against the dome, it opens as if a doorway.    The weather is cooler, the sun appears to be setting, a building in the distance Elrick pokes his head around Millie, not going in, but looking into the dome, the sky is not shimmering, just an overcast sky. Walter offers to throw his sword sheath into the dome, let it close, and then open it again to see what happens when Willumin flicks his cigarette into the dome, they let the dome close again, open it, and it appears that time flows normally.    Before going into the dome, they debate on leaving a note behind, deciding to leave a bottle with a note inside, Willumin leaves his own note, and they make a small pile of rocks to indicate where they entered.    Millie opens the door once again and they all walk into the dome. Walter goes in first...
Let it close and we are done with the sword.
— Effie
Lithoniel goes in next, followed by Effie and Elrik, Willumn, and lastly Millie. The dome closes behind them. The other side is more temperate, cooler, dryer than the land that you just left. When looking behind, from where they all just came from, they can see the land that they just left - with a shimmer of a magic dome walling off the path. Walter pulls out his compass that points to the ship - it still works, but it appears to be pointing further south than it was before, when the ship was traveling north.
