Harvest Tide Day 5 - Negotiations Complete, Now a Side Quest

General Summary

The party wanders around Quickshore and end up at Octavius's Outrageous Oddities - a shop that resembles a hoarder's house - filled with all sorts of items.   Octavius has one request, Can you get me some baby Bearmit Crabs? They should be by the coastline, a little further south from where the goblins camped...In fact, it would probably be a good idea to take care of them, don't want our new neighbors to run into any trouble now do we? Just, you know, don't kill the babies. I want to try to train them to be a guardian of the city shoreline. I have been studying them for a while now, I think, like bears, if you can get them at a young enough age, before they have gone fully feral, that you can train them to be companions of sorts. Since we don't really have any good defenses here, I thought they could be a strong asset to the town.   While the party is discussing the details, Willumin travels to the Generic Store on his own, he buys two loaves of bread and some hard cheese for his meals throughout the day
As the party travels the two hours to get to the beach where the bearmit crabs are located...   Mizzix sizes up his new allies, I make all the things, shells are hard, I can make armor Lithoniel, I hope to try to negotiate with the bearmit crabs, to make them go away, with the babies.   Willumin gives Mizzix a pieces of cheese, Mizzix is excited to have cheese again, he doesn't get cheese often. Also, this is when the party finds that Mizzix's teeth are terrifying - pointy, uneven teeth, that like some of the stranger creatures that live in the see - as find when Mizzix catches the cheese in his mouth.
Also, Willumin, Lithoniel, and Millie have more discussion about what happened with Walter and the sword... Well, you certainly didn't discuss it, it was a snap judgement - Willumin You were the first who thought his sword was evil, why would you want to keep it? - Lithoniel What if he was holding it in check, you don't know - Willumin Corrupting influences don't care what they corrupt, it could be corrupting the land - Willumin Walter was your friend, land vs. a human soul - Lithoniel I would have just like some discussion on it, we didn't get that. You made the call, you are the boss. that is kindof a boss move. and i am OK with that, that is the chain of the command - Willumin Do you have to be so damned annoying about it - Millie If that is how we handle things, that is how we handle things. I have been in worse outfits - Willumin I am sure you would talk to us about a young monk on the ship, I am sure you would ask about it. - Lithoniel I have, all of you, all the time. - Willumin If your daughter had a corrupting sword, you would take it away - Lithoniel If she told me she had it under control, I would trust her - Willumin But the ship - Millie And you told me otherwise - Willumin ... I would have like some say in it...maybe brought it up with the captain...I just hope we made the right decision...that part is what I am not completely convinced of - Willumin ... The decision was made, hopefully Walter will be better for it - Willumin ... It is buried pretty deep in the ground, and only Millie was able to gain entry - Lithoniel And the sword itself - Willumin But that is on the other side - Lithoniel With who knows what else - Willumin ... It's not about right or wrong, it is about trust, and I don't trust you - Willumin I thought you were on the same side, which is why I didn't discuss. I definitely errored on it and for that I apologies - Lithoniel
The party continues to travel towards where the bearmit crabs were last sighted, fortunately they were traveling upwind. On their way more discussions are had...   Mizzix has been continuously singing about the red flower The red flower? - Millie to Mizzix Mizzix responds with firing off his weapon - a fire bolt blasts out of it - and he goes back to singing about the red flower
Then when reaching their final destination, discussions on how to actually trap the baby bearmit crabs is conducted...   I think its a great idea - Mizzix when talking about getting baby bearmit crabs And that is how we know it is a terrible idea - Willumin   Ooo I'm really quiet, when I want to be - Mizzix - Everyone side eyes Mizzix who doesn't shut up   Eventually, when traveling down the beach, Willumin notices a pile of rocks that have a crude wooden weapon sticking out of it. Umm...I think that might be one of them. Willumin prepares a spell - Cordon of Arrows - then simultaneously fires his weapon with Mizzix and Mizzix's force cannon at the pile of rocks. The bearmit crabs emerge from the pile of stones, attacking the party. After Lithoniel loses her double bladed scimitar to the shell of a bearmit crab, she stabs the two others in the eye with a dagger, dealing the final blows while grappled between their claws.   Now, only two small piles of rocks remain on the beach, motionless. Mizzix makes two very sturdy cages to trap the two baby bearmit crabs that are the same size as he is with little sleds to drag along the beach Lithoniel meanwhile catches some fish to use as bait and Willumin works on trying to remove the shell from the three bearmit crabs - and manages to extract each one perfectly. A shell composed of rock (300 lbs) and bee glue (20 lbs), as well as four large crab claws, a bear belt, and 10 bear claws.   Mr. Millie...make me a lunch...of bearmit crab claws - that is delicious - served with Willumin's fresh bread   Once the cages are constructed, Millie grapples both the baby bearmit crabs and tosses them in.
After which, they drag the two caged baby bearmit crabs back to Quickshore   Willumin has 40 lbs of crab meat leftovers 100 gold and one of the oddities from his shop -
