Harvest Tide 3019, Day 1 - Exiting the Riftforged Facility - Day 3 - Reuniting with the Goblins

General Summary

As the party sifted through the remains of the defeated riftforged, Walter finds a component in the riftforged that appeared to be the strongest, the one that was laying on the activation bed. A small metallic sphere, studded with more of the crystals that seem to be the power source or have some other greater impact on the riftforged. Millie doesn't have to carve out any sections from their armor or make any dramatic changes, after observing, inspecting, and holding the orb for a period of time, Millie instinctively presses the orb against a portion of their chest, like pressing a ball into sand, and it becomes one with their armor.   While taking a little break, Willumin looks at the riftforged that have been destroyed and starts placing them back into place, lighting some incense, and saying a prayer to those that were destroyed. Thinking that they aren't all to different from himself.   Meanwhile though, the captured riftforged breaks free from its manacles and the vines wrapped around it, extends its halberd, and attacks. Unfortunately for Frank, the party quickly dispatched of him, destroying him as he stood.

Millie's Vision

Show Spoiler
To Millie: There is a flash in your mind. You remember waking in a room, upon a table, crystals embedded to arcane panels pointed at you in each corner of the room, a room much like the one in the riftforged facility you were just in. A male human, in plain white robes walks up to you, inspects you, then nods to another human in white robes, just outside the room, at a console with a giant crystal, again, much like what you just saw. The human presses some buttons, the table tilts, standing you upright, then moves on its own, transporting you into a nearby room, where other riftforged, just like you, stand upright against tables, motionless. Anther flash - This time, you are in a wasteland, a battlefield that was once a forest, but all the remains are the charred ruins of tree trunks, ashen earth, decaying remains of humanoids, and the broken pieces of riftforged. You stand there looking around, taking in your surroundings, you stand alone. There is another flash of light, but this time it isn't the restoration of broken connections in your system, this is a huge explosion of intense white flame in the distance. An explosion that pierces into sky, blinding you temporarily as you hold your arm up to protect your eyes. An explosion that causes the earth to quake and then split beneath your feet. You start to run away as fast as you can away from the growing crack in the ground, trying to not fall into the increasingly large crevasse. Like a lightning bolt in the ground, the earth splits, traveling away from the explosion, the slash in the earth now goes further than you can see in either direction. As you are trying to run away from the threat of falling into this expanding pit, the explosion blast catches up to you, launching you off your feet into the air, and into the huge expanding crevasse. You get the idea that when you installed the docent, it was able to repair parts of you that were broken and you have never been able to repair.
Millie shared what they saw to the party.   After which, Lithoniel starts an argument with Walter about the nature of his sword - Raz'Gomon. While Walter argues that the sword is the key to what is going on, Lithoniel worries about the price. To which Walter responds, The price for knowledge is everything - the lives have already been scarified. People have died because of it. Lithoniel counters with her concerns about what lives will be sacrificed in the future.   Side Note: The captain does not know what happened. He didn't ask questions of anyone's background during their interviews. The captain only cared about the skills and knowledge that they had and what value they would give the ship on their adventure through the Fog.    The fight continues... I can't be tacit or complicit with Walter in the party - Lithoniel You can't condemn people of what they might do - Willumin Yes, I might be using the sword to get answers...and get stronger...but, it is helping and I have it in control - Walter If you have in control, what happens if you don't? - Lithoniel I fear if I ever was to lose control I would have to be stopped. If I was stopped, that means the sword would be picked up, and the cycle continues. The other option is that the sword needs to be destroyed. I can't figure out how to do that...There has to be a way...I guess I have hope. I spent a lot of time, by myself admittedly, I tried to make sure I wasn't a danger to others...the boat and this trip was my first return to society, I had not talked to others, I decided to leave first. However, I am on a boat with a lot of talented people and hope for them to help. - Walter Do you not want to help this man? - Willumin Do you want to travel with him if he has the potential to kill? - Lithoniel If that is how you feel I can stay here and research. - Walter Leave the sword - Lithoniel If you do not trust the sword, you do not trust me - Walter I told you to leave the sword here! Not yourself! - Lithoniel Maybe, after I have destroyed the sword and completed my research I will return - Walter I can't leave you here Walter, I will let this go. - Lithoniel I don't know if I should travel with you, you don't trust me. - Walter Oh for fuck's sake. - Willumin walks away Ugh. Fucking children - Millie also walks away and the argument seems to end for the time As they travel, Lithoniel, if you ever use my daughter as a threat against me. You are done. - Willumin (referencing a moment when Lithoniel mentioned that if the sword took over Walter, Willumin's daughter, Esme, would be in danger.  I hope you find the redemption you were looking for. - Lithoniel   Anyway...the party takes some ingots from the Riftforged facility before leaving.    As they exit the dome, Millie looks back at Walter, "Well, I guess we are going to find out about this," as the door behind him closes, Walter still on the other side. A moment later, the dome reopens, Walter able to open it with his sword. Walter then conducts one final test on the deme, the ingots do not open a doorway.    While Walter experiments with the dome, Willumin just continues to walk away drinking some alcohol that he keeps stored in his pack. Millie McMasters looks at Wilumin - "Might want to slow the drinking. It'll get worse for walking if you continue." Willumin kicks at a rock that may not be there. Willumin, "There are things worse than death" - he says about his wife.   Walter stays behind a moment to think about what was said. "Wait - Can you keep the gate open for a little bit? I don't need to go far. Give me an hour." Walter goes back through the dome, to bury the sword. Elric goes to help, molding a huge hole into the earth. Walter responds to his actions, it is the only way - causing the death of his old friends and now destroying his new friends and seeing that he broke his new family - staring into the abyss created by Elric, Walter breaks his bond with the sword and drops it into the hole. Elric molds the earth once again, burring Raz'Gomon about 1,000 feet before returning through the dome and back to the party.    As they return through the dome, Lithy stay. We don't need to break another group. Williumin, can I have a drink. - Walter I'm not carrying both of you - Millie I didn't get to show you all the things the sword could do. - Walter We will probably see it again - Willumin   As the sun begins to set in the horizon, Elric and Effie take the 3 ingots that they gathered from the riftforged factory and head towards the elven village, where they should meet up with the ship. Walter goes with them, I know where the boat is and now I am defenseless and powerless without the sword   After they left, the following morning... "I don't have speak with stomach" - Millie to Willumin "I don't think I can lay on hands on dehydration" - Lithoniel to Willumin "Ugh. You satisfied" - Willumin "Not how I expected" - Lithoniel "I am satisfied" - Millie

Continuing their Journey...

The remaining party of Willumin, the half-elf gunslinger cleric, Millie, the riftforged warlord, and Lithoniel, the sea elf paladin continue to the abandoned farmhouse with the blighted garden where Dos, the goblin tinkerer, was told to meet the party with the rest of his more passive goblin companions.    The morning of the 3rd day of Harvest Tide, Willlumin has a bad feeling...as they approach the abandoned farmhouse   Dos introduces his companions including, Una, his sister - who seems to be a bit formidable than Dos, Mezqe - who claims to be a witch, Gryz - who claims to be a bit more knowledged, Grol - who is like the sleazy salesman, Fyzde - Mezqe's apprentice who claims he is better than she is, and Dylkakri - the retired adventurer, among others. One of the more notable goblins, who stands at the side of Dos, is Mizzix. Dos, introduces Mizzix to the party as his apprentice. Mizzix, didn't fit well with the other goblins, liking to tinker more than wrestle. Hopefully the new town with the big people will be a better fit.    Mizzix looks at Millies hand axe with eyes saying, please give that to me. Millie hands him their hand axe and Mizzix attaches little pieces of metal and other materials to the axe, and hands it back saying, "Hi, I'm Mizzix, I can help." As Millie takes back their hand axe, it now glows like a candle.   A convoy of Dos, his sister Una, Mizzix, and the party go to Quickshore to plead that not all goblins are bad.
