Praesertys

A world anchored by the Five Trees, each tree holding the world in place, from sinking into nothingness. They are Vaedai the Whisperer - embodiment of wind, Mynei the Floodgate - embodiment of water, Shaittae the Flourishing - embodiment of earth, Vulne the Blaze - embodiment of fire, and Kynae the Sacrosanct - embodiment of balance. And having awareness, the trees not only guard the world from the precipice of death, but they guide the world through the choosing of emissaries.   Each emissary journeys through a pilgrimage to each tree. They see the state of the world. And they learn the ways of each tree. And if their choosing is accepted by all five trees, they are named Dunaesthyt. And their will sets the pace of the world for the next one thousand years.   Except this time, someone tried to stop the trees. Someone warped the magic and tried to prove that there was not death beyond their roots. Scotyllah the Maguis created an army against the wills of the people. He nearly destroyed the world, having struck against the four outer trees. And Dunaesthyt Saerdhet Vorowrest gave his life to stop them.   Now, three hundred years later, the world is still suffering the consequences. Balance was lost. And a new emissary is chosen. Young Siekka Thiarald is barely grown by her people's long lived standards. But when Vaedai calls, she must answer.
