Nordgrenze River

The Nordgrenze marks the norther border of Nornhil. This ancient and wide river is fast flowing and difficult to cross and forms a perfect natural border. To the north lies the Unknown territories. Here can be found many tribes of Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, and other wild untamed creatures. To the west the river joins the ocean via a large and magnificent waterfall. This means that the river is effectively isolated from the ocean itself and has had a major impact on the ecology of the region.
The river marks the limit of the country of Nornhil and plays a crucial part in securing the north part of the country. Many forts and watchtowers have been erected at strategic locations to monitor and prevent raids and incursions.

Geography

The source of the river can be found in the mountains as a series of fast flowing rapids. As it moves west it widens and slows slightly but is still considered a fast flowing river. Millennia of erosion have resulted in a river often flanked by high cliffs making crossing nigh but impossible in all but a few locations.
It joins the ocean via the Nordgrenze falls in the west.

Fauna & Flora

As the river is difficult to cross and even access there are few settlements on its banks. The flora and fauna are untouched and very wild. There are a few large river fish but the river is mostly full of many smaller varieties.
