Shocksap tree
The shocksap tree is a bizarre and rare magical tree that can be found in northern forests across Plavithen.
The tree and its sap are electrically-conductive and it gets its name from the fact that its sap actually holds a charge.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Shocksap looks like a fairly normal coniferous tree with two exceptions:
First, the needles are a vibrant teal color and have tiny streaks of bright cyan threaded through them. They are also crooked and bent at slight angles along their length.
Second, the tree periodically crackles with electricity.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
The trees grow relatively quickly in soil that's been struck by lightning and the wood, sap, and needles are used in a variety of ways.
The wood is often fashioned into wooden weapons such as staves and clubs; in this role, it can be used to extend the reach of any spell that deals lightning damage out to the end of the weapon; it can also be used as the grip in weapons made of conductive metals for the same effect. It would be possible to use shocksap wood as a substitute for traditional electrical wiring, but thus far this has never been done; the tree is a product of Plavithen's second life and the current civilizations haven't advanced enough to be using electricity in their homes or workplaces yet. The needles have a pleasant, if sharp, taste to them.
The needles are as conductive as the rest of the tree, but can also be ground into an edible paste. When consumed, it has a short-term positive effect on cognitive functions and also acts as a mild stimulant (comparable to caffeine).
Shocksap sap is a primary component in alchemical shock bombs. Properly prepared, it essentially works as a capacitor, storing a large amount of electricity and discharging it all at once. It could thus be used as a capacitor in a more advanced context, and also has some utility as "liquid wires" or even as a component in computing devices.
