Adrianna Celanzim

Adrianna Celanzim is the most powerful and most dangerous witch hunter in the entire kingdom of Karkova and probably the world. She commands a large, disciplined, and ruthless army of efficient and loyal soldiers dedicated to rooting out threats to the Church of Light.
"Cardinal" Celanzim's definition of what constitutes a witch is significantly broader than that of the church itself and includes heretics, apostates, clerics of other faiths, druids, wizards, sorcerers, and warlocks (regardless of where they get their power from). She is probably responsible for the deaths of more arcane spellcasters in the last fifteen years than all other causes combined. This is more than a little ironic as she's both a heretic and an apostate herself.
Though she claims to work on behalf of the church, her ruthless personal crusade resulted in her excommunication from the church's hierarchy less than two years after it began.
It barely slowed her down.
Celanzim's family is powerful and well-connected and she is in command of what amounts to a personal army full of hardened killers. She basically stared the church down and dared them to try to take her forces from her. The church blinked.
Something happened to her connection to the divine and it affected her forces as well. Prior to her crusade, she'd had access to the Light domain. A number of her subordinate clerics had access to the Life domain. After the events of her excommunication, her forces discovered that they only were able to access the Order and Knowledge domains. Her paladins were similarly affected, only able to draw on the oaths of The Crown and Conquest when they had previously been able to gain power from the Oath of Devotion.
Despite her demeanor and past, Celanzim is not the most monstrous self-appointed witch hunter ever. She and her forces use magical truth-compelling spells but not torture. They hang prisoners with swift (neck-breaking, not strangling) knots instead of burning them at the stake and don't assume that anyone who flinches away from them is automatically worthy of death.
Celanzim also has trained and disciplined her forces to the point where they can withstand the supernatural horror and madness from a lot of malignant supernatural forces, which means that if demons are at the gate, she and her soldiers will respond by strapping on their armor and attacking.
She is a skilled investigator and an even more skilled battlefield commander and is a skilled rider, spellcaster, and warrior. She also has a spine of pure tempered steel and does not frighten or back down easily.
If she was actually the person she imagines herself to be, she'd be a legendary hero.
