Pinegaard Winemakers

Shadowbranch is referred to as wine country by folks in Pinegaard, and around the fey land. It helps that several of the community’s leaders and business owners are involved in the wine industry in one capacity or another.   Throughout the town’s history, Shadowbranch’s residents, including the mayor and council members, had some hand in wine making, whether it’s making the drink, selling it, or supporting wine in other ways. The town founder, Axel Shorthammer, was known for his vineyards and the Shorthammer Winery. His descendants still own the Shorthammer Winery, and their wine is sold throughout the continent and in the fey courts.   Several other families also own wineries and vineyards. The southern part of town has three vineyards, each one belonging to a prominent family.   The Olars, whose blood includes dwarven and hauflin ancestry, who have a long history running the Watch; The Rolibecks, who handle Shadowbranch’s parks and recreation, and The Teadrinkers, who support the town’s wine industry, as well as oversee the vineyards in The Below region underneath the surface.   The Below, an underground region underneath Pinegaard’s surface, has several wineries and vineyards, utilizing the rich soil and minerals to grow their grapes the size of mushrooms.   Shadowbranch’s eastern region has two vineyards and three wineries, all owned by the mayor and their family.   Besides Shadowbranch, several regional leaders who’ve taken up winemaking after visiting Shadowbranch. The troll monarch, King Vashan of the Marsh, owns six vineyards in the Shirning Marshlands.   The elven city of Delnair’s wineries are all owned by the Sunspear Royal family.   Burnheart, the largest city in Pinegaard, has only five wineries and four vineyards. Each vineyard is owned by a noble and three of the wineries belong to local chefs. There are two wineries whose ownership is disputed as they once belonged to a cult before the Burnheart Watch and The Flight seized them following an incident.
