Flying Towers
The people in Pinegaard, particularly mages and engineers, have sought to master flight for generations. One method these groups have accomplished this feat is through the use of flying towers.
Travelers who gaze into the sky on a clear day may see a dark shape move through the sky. These are the flying towers, which are fifteen meters tall and fifteen meters wide.
A flying tower is typically designed with three to six floors and includes various amenities for passengers, including bedrooms, a library, a study, and a dungeon.
Flying towers are powered through different types of magic, either air manipulation. Engineers have also modified towers to allow them to easily maneuver through the air.
Some towers use wings and propellers while others are coated in a spell that allows the structure to move through the air in case a mage needs a quick escape.
Wizards from Arcania, the City of Spells, were the first ones to construct the flying towers. They claimed they created the idea and plans for the towers, yet explorers discovered evidence to contradict their claims.
Schematics from the flying towers come from journals belonging to Baneros Kartsark, an archmage and general in all three Pandemonium conflicts. The blueprints have runes that, once decoded, give a list of materials and spells to make towers fly. When explorers brought these documents to the White Flame Guild, the schematics were taken and the explorers were never seen again.
Arcania Mageguards later raided the White Flame Guild and found the organization had kept numerous artifacts, including the blueprints. These were turned over to the Arcania Council and locked away to prevent flying towers from being weaponized.
This didn’t stop a few archmages from copying the schematics and developing their flying towers. These mages are on the run from Arcania’s forces.
Investigators working for the City of Spells refuse to divulge who took them, yet they assure Pinegaard’s leaders that the matter is being investigated.
