Crown of Spring

The Crown of Spring is considered one of the most dangerous artifacts in the Fey Realm.   The crown appears as a brass head adornment that sports five crosses around it with copper leaves wrapped around the base. At the center is an oval-shaped emerald embedded in the center of one of the crosses.   The crown is considered dangerous as it allows the wearer to invade the dreams of willing participants. When they’re in someone’s dream, the crown wearer can learn history and secrets about the individual as well as talk to them. Some use this power to reinforce their control over a follower.   The crown’s origins stem from the Archfey of the Spring Court, King Roelar, who created the artifact to peer into his subject’s dreams. Roelar’s intentions was to find a traitor supposedly hidden in his court. He wasn’t keen on using magic to invade the minds of his subjects, though he’d exhausted his initial efforts.   Roelar’s efforts were unfounded as there was no traitor in his court. He kept the crown locked away from his court, fearing the crown could be weaponized against his people.   The king’s fears were warranted as the crown was stolen from one of the Court’s vaults. The culprit was the noblewoman Galah Wos’dhal who brought the artifact to the fey Azael Lighthammer, leader of the Searing Light. Azael had heard about the crown and seduced Galah into retrieving it for him.   Azael, already a gifted talker and charismatic leader, used the crown to invade his followers' thoughts sto learn their secrets and control them. He also discovered secrets about potential enemies through his followers.   Azael lost the crown after members of the Silverflame Agency took down the Searing Light.   The investigator Duke Teadrinker deduced that the source of the crown’s power was the emerald. He keeps the crown in his trophy room in Shadowbranch.
