Caer Trocaine

The land surrounding Shadowbranch is a mystery with numerous treasures waiting to be discovered. One of the recent mysteries that was solved was the lost city of Caer Trocaine.   The entrance to the city was discovered at the base of the Applescarn Mountains range. Rangers from the elven city of Delnair found the entrance and went to Teadrinker Manor to speak with Duke Teadrinker, a dragonkin dhampir who is known for investigating mysteries in the region.   Duke and his friend Mayble Teadrinker, no relation, entered the city and discovered it was home to dwarves, gnomes, and trolls, possibly from the Prime World. Mayble found texts written in different languages before hearing a noise, which turned out to be a pair of goblins, Io and Zan.   The goblins explained that their friend Terro went missing in the city, to which Duke and Mayble agreed to help.   Duke and Mayble explored with Io and Zan, noticing the bodies littered on the ground. Io, a skilled healer, explained that their deaths were caused by a disease. Upon further investigation, Duke discovered a journal written in dwarven. It read that a prince unleashed a disease in the city, killing almost everyone.   The group found Terro, before meeting a lich who was the prince. The lich hoped to possess Terro before Duke and the others arrived.   After defeating the lich in a short battle, Duke and Mayble brought Terro, Io, and Zan to another tunnel where another goblin, Mayor Yarb of Shriekport, thanked them. Yarb explained he and his fellow goblins were from The Below and found Caer Trocaire by mistake. Yarb agreed to seal the tunnel to prevent his people from wandering into the city.   Duke and Mayble returned to the manor where they contacted The Flight, who sent agents to the city to install golems and other security measures until a solution to the lich problem can be found. It’s hoped that the city can be cleaned of the disease once the lich is eradicated.
