He and his wife were threatened by the Capital Military to turn over their bank and everything in it. They refused. His wife was abducted. The Capital Military then asked him to sign over the bank for the safe return of his wife. He did so, but the Capital Military had already killed the wife. He was labeled a coward and blamed for the whole situation by his community (usually tight knit), so he moved to Balance City to escape it.
