The Mind's Jewel

Where the academics and the greatest minds of peridot are trained.

The Mind's Jewel is the primary university and space of education for the higher classes in Peridot. It teaches a wide variety of classes (so many classes that they take a majority of the space on the floating island of Amethyst). It teaches Lawmasters, judges, politicians, leaders, wizards and sorcerers of noble claim or prodigious talent. Most notably it contains the base for the Magus Arcanum alongside Sapphires guild bases. The Mind’s Jewel contains a variety of sources for education and information though specifically it is the information it offers for magic that has drawn the most attention. EVOCATION: Led by Louis Therard, a human evoker who also acts as the Evocation lead in The Magus Arcanum. This school pays attention to those who wish to learn the art of destruction and ‘action’ in their magic. It is one of the more popular schools and teaches war magic to those who wish to join the Jewelled and act as enforcers for the Magus Arcanum. ABJURATION: Led by Carliah Dunlocke, a Halfling woman and abjurer. She is 130 years old and has been the head abjurer for 100 years. The abjurist school fills the same space as evocation due to being mainly devoted to people looking to hone their skills as adventurers, join the Jewelled or be enforcers for the Magus Arcanum. DIVINATION: Ran by a tiefling named Viola who on occasion takes the form of a purple tiefling called Vincent. They are exceptionally skills in divination and are rumoured to have learnt the majority of their power from the nine hells themselves. Diviners tend to be mainly nobles with magical talent looking to hone their powers to increase their own position and standing. NECROMANCY: Ran by a Ash dragonborn (black) called Rine Blacktower. A member of the crimson blaze who worships the Necromancer and is the most skilled necromancer in all of Peridot. His age is unknown as he has used this power to bolster hsi life indefinitely. EFFECTIVELY MAKING HIMSELF IMMORTAL though he will not teach others how to do so out of fear of the magic being abused. CONJURATION: Ran by a human called Moira Blanche. A studious academic who has previous been in trouble with faculty for attempting to summon devils and demons one such deed led to a student death. She is not the most skilled in the world and is still being taught by another but will not divulge his name or teachings. ILLUSION: Ran by a changeling called Aberdeer who teaches students the more subtle and manipulative uses of illusions... he is a college of lore bard. ENCHANTMENT: Ran by an arcane trcikster. Not the strongest but has the most practical knowledge... being an ex-member of the mirrored (the peridot thieves guild)

Purpose / Function

Teaching young and rich nobles to be great politicians, lawmasters, judges or magic users... also acts as a primary base for the Magus Arcanum to work from and police a majority of spellcasters.

Alterations

The buildings has grown out bigger and bigger as time has gone on with more clusters for various lessons and practicals being built around or bought as existing homes... in this way it resembles a city based university with buildings across the island of amethyst.

Architecture

More modern though as you get closer to the centre and the main building it looks significantly older as the central campus and accommodation for the minds jewel was a former temple to a now-dead God. The buildings have started using steampunk tech and their students ow inventions to improve in terms of transport and have recently invested in GNOME ROADS a method of transport that allows people to walk at incredibly high speeds on a set course allowing students to quickly move from class to class without the need for teleporting.

History

Built centuries ago when 'The Diviner'. killing the god that owned the building effectively took it for himself and devoted it to study and knowledge. Since then it has grown and become recognised as the central educational space in all of peridot though most cannot afford to go there without sponsorship or a scholarship.
