Battle of Mearcred Creek

The Battle of Mearcred Creek was a large battle fought in Sussex between the armies of King Uther Pendragon  and King Ælla of Sussex and his son Ætheling Cissa of Sussex in 485. Believing King Ælle to be a pressing threat, King Uther mustered his armies in Salisbury and Silchester to attack the Saxon kingdom of Sussex . The armies met at Mearcred Creek.
