Wesakechak

Wesakechak is a trickster spirit. The colonial settlers did not understand spirits misinterpretating this as a god. A shapeshifter who can also communicate with nature, animals, trees, even rocks. Wesakechak gets in many adventures and into lots of trouble. The spirit is neither good nor bad. It is often greedy, especially for food, enjoys playing tricks, and is often selfish. Wesakechak has been around before humans, since a time when man and animal could communicate. Once humans came Wesakechak was happy to have more beings to play tricks on.     There are many tales of Wesakechak that explain why animals and trees have the features they have. There are many tales that show how Wesakechak's greed, ego and selfishness gets him in trouble. And there are many tales and adventures that are just funny stories for entertainment. The stories are mainly told at night after the city's curfew and on long winter nights. Tales are centuries old with many versions of the same tale.   Wesakechak had played many pranks on all the animals. They were angry with him. Choosing to ignore him. This made Wesakechak angry then sad. He walked away eventually getting lost in the wilderness. He climbed a tree to see where he was. Climbing down he discovered that he was covered in pitch. A flock of birds flew by. They flapped their wings causing loose feathers to fall. Soon Wesakechak was covered in feathers. Wesakechak was embarrassed and mad at first then an idea came to him. He used this new disguise to go back to the animals. He befriended then before stealing their food and playing more tricks on them.   Wesakechak is more of a light hearted example of how not to act. He can be rash, lose his temple, eat too much, joke too much, steal food, just a misceivious scamp. He is also the butt of alot of the tales when his plans backfire.
