Dwarf

Dwarves are slow to trust those outside their kin, but this wariness is not without reason. Dwarves have a long history of forced exile from ancestral holds and struggles against the depredations of savage foes, especially giants, goblinoids, orcs, and the horrors that dwell deep below the surface. While trust from a dwarf is hard-won, once gained it is as strong as iron.   Throughout the centuries, dwarves have had it harder than many other races. Thanks to a pact made by humans, portals from the Hells opened in their ancestral home of Hammerfell. To save their homeland, the dwarves made a deal of their own, the end result being the First Human King of Dwarves, a powerful human necromancer, took charge of the ancient dwarfholds and raised an undead army to stand as a line of defense against the Hells, a situation that still exists some 1500 years later. As a result, many of the dwarves left their homes, striking out across the world and making new dwarfholds wherever they could.   When the Iron Legion began their campaign of conquest in the Redlands, the dwarves were among the resistance's most staunch members, due in no small part to the ancient enemies of dwarven kind, the goblinoids and orcs. Unfortunately even these stalwart defenders were unable to stem the tide of the Iron Legon for long.   Dwarves treasure intricate and long hair and beards.
