Mizbasha

The Mizbasha are a lion-like people who are native to the Valley of Moss. They tend to live in semi-nomadic family clans called Prides. Mizbasha have spread west into the Burzee Jungle and some have managed to cross the Shifting Sands into Katlin. Before The Chess Revolution, Mizbasha were the fastest growing minority in the Duchy of Katlin.

Origin

The origin of Mizbasha is much disputed among scholars and even among Mizbasha Prides. Pride traditions and oral histories vary greatly from Pride to Pride. Perhaps the most popular myth is the Lurline's Protectorate. Similar to the origin behind the Manitober, The Lurline's Protectorate tells the story of the Mizbasha, Manitober, Reptili, and Zerapak. Each was created by Lurline to protect a specific natural region of Pastoria. Mizbasha were assigned to protect the Valley of Moss.    Another popular origin story tells that Mizbasha came from The Space Between Worlds, descended from a powerful group of Celestial Lions that roamed amongst the stars.

Culture

While a unified culture does not exist among Mizbasha, there are certain things that one can assume are true. A Mizbasha is loyal to their tribe. Even the Mizbasha that leaves their Pride of Origin tend toward uncompromising loyalty to those that they view as their adopted Pride.

Anatomy

Mizbasha tend to be taller than humans standing between 6 to 7 feet tall. They are covered with short fur all over their bodies and have retractable claws. Some Mizbasha are known to have thick manes in colors of gold, red, and black. Others might have a diamond-shaped tuft of thicker hair on their chest usually in white, red, or black.
