Visions of the Past: Ozark

As Ozark leaves the cave the light from the sun hits her eyes for the first time and is blinded. But she keep walking as if in a trance. With bare feet touching the cold damp grass, she walks drawn to the smell of the fresh air and the sounds of the open world. And Ozark feels connected to all of it, comforted by the presence of the worms and insects in the grass at her feet, and then the small birds in the trees around you, and then a deer grazing in a clearing miles away. This connection grows, and she feels more and more. Every flower blooming, every bird yet to hatch from their eggs, and every wolf hunting its quarry. But at the far reaches of what she can can sense, there's nothing. A growing darkness from where life should be. The darkness grows and slowly consumes everything, One by one the light of every creature Ozark once sensed is extinguished. Until there the nothingness is all encompassing. Where there was once life there is now none, yet the bodies remain. Empty husks moving in the darkness, cursed corpses driven only by desire to kill and eat.   Then from the blackness, several eyes slowly open. Arranged in a circle in front of her. And in the centre, another singular large eye, much larger than the rest slowly opens. And Ozark can feel nothing but evil, burning a way at her, and the pain wakes her from her trance. And Ozark finds herself on one knee with grass clutched in fists.
