Duke Of Clearwater Alberic Lyonese (a.k.a. Duke Of The Drink)

Alberic Lyonese is a lesser noble of Etaine, Duke of Clearwater. He serves as a vassal of his twin brother Prince Amaund Lyonese. An ambitious man who often acts above his station, but is distrusted by other nobles. He has been given few minor roles in service of Etaine, he acts as a master of horse for his brother, and is placed in charge of the taxation and legislation surrounding 'peasant beverages' mainly ale, grog, mead and other alcoholic drinks chosen by Etaine's peasant class. Because of this many call Alberic 'The Duke of the Drink' behind his back, while he despises this nickname he burdens it as a price for the freedoms the role grants him. Alberic profits greatly from the sale of 'Clearwater Ale' which he claims from the hamlet of Aydindir. The Lyonese family has a history of being famed horse trainers and riders. Much of Etaine's history speaks of battles where Lyonese riders lead the charge on the backs of some of Passaulis's finest steeds. Some members of the Lyonese bloodline, and the elite riders who served them, also mastered the taming and control of Pegai, a feat many others thought impossible. Alberic fears that Amaund has forgotten that history, and wishes to train Pegai again, he believes doing this will kick start his rise through the hierarchy above his brothers station.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

A tall imposing man, whose love for ale shows in his gut. However, whatever fat Alberic's body holds conceals no small amount of muscle. At 56 Alberic is as fit as he was at 21.

Wields a variety of weapons. Mainly a long sword and lance. His armour body is made of plate while he has a chain mail skirt to make mounting and dismounting easier. He wears a red and yellow tabbard over his armour. And his helmet has a large gaudy Pegasus ornament adorned on top.

Education

Like many nobles Alberic was trained by his father, and his father's top soldiers and knights in the art of mounted and personal combat. While Alberic lacked the aptitude for military strategy and general book learning, he excelled at mounted combat. As well as this he showed a gift for handling animals especially horses.

Employment

Through his adolescent years Alberic served as a squire for his father. At age 17, he was gifted his own horse, sword and armour. He then served as a lieutenant and second in command of Lyonese's Knights during the Honourable War For The Mountains. At 23, when peace was negotiated, Alberic returned to his homeland. For his war efforts, Alberic was gifted the title of Duke and the holding of Clearwater from his fathers Council Of Dukes. Since, Alberic has lived in and ruled over the small holding of Clearwater.
