Paradi

Our home. San Michion, San Réne, Oksentide, Victory, Kenchi Zamj. Its all Paradi, something we all share. People have lived here for over 3000 years, the Fair Folk are more ancient than we know. This is the Holy Land of Verilliansime.    That was a bit purple, I'm sorry, I'm a sucker for happy endings. Don't expect any more of that.   So, a brief history. How did the Dossu get here? What about the Ange-etel? Well, scholars of the Church will tell you they were the first ones here, that the great Dieu crafted the northern heart and ...    We don't know, so don't expect to learn much.   The most northern landmass of the known world, Paradi is the site of ancient settlements and creatures. Said to be the birthplace of Verillianisme, its eastern half was explored by missionaries of the Church. Given the task by the Archbishop himself, the motley band set north. Some were devout priests others went in hopes of evading criminal charges, others for promises of buried treasure.   Imagine their surprise when they found the land had people and cities. Not to mention the Fair Folk of the north or the stone citadels they had glimpsed from their ships. And so taking the teachings of the Redemire into their hearts, the missionaries made the executive decision to forge an alliance, one they hoped would last for generations.    Well, it wasn't so much a good-willed morally right decision, it was just that a lot of the priests weren't that religious, and the trip had been really long. The indigenous people had magic, so a battle wouldn't end well, they couldn't very well go back and say "we found the holy land, nice scenery, nice people so we left". This is where the Qali Huang stepped in, offering to finance the missionaries in exchange for trading rights. And so they set out to build a town, then a city. San Michon is the greatest of these, built by the truly faithful.   And it seems that the cooperation paid off, 200 years later, much of the continent remains unexplored but the cities in the southeast are happy, for the most part.   With the imposing iron trunks of the Wilderwood to the north and the Jaciok Mountains to the west, the only viable place to settle is southeast and central Paradi. Most settlements are built along the Shahdezad River or on the farmlands between forests. Some brave souls make their homes along the southern islands, though why I don't know. Nothing but stinky fish and rainy winters, springs and autumns. And then the grass goes dry in the summer.    As you can see my blood is San Michon though and through.
