The Litwatch Theocracy

The Litwatch Theocracy

The Litwatch Theocracy was once part of The See of Grinia. It seperated after the expulsion of the great Prophet of Grinia from the See and subsequent crusades by the See against the prophet's followers. The forested home allowed the mighty Litwatch Templars to stand firm against the incursions and defend their prophet for many years. The ongoing holy war between the Litwatch branch of Grianianism and the Orthodox Grinianism branch has turned much of the eastern border into a no mans land.

Politics

The Litwatch Theocracy is ruled by the living descendants of The Prophet. The current ruler of The Litwatch Theocracy is The Whispered Voice of Grinia Ruther Litwatch. The Whispered Voice is reference to the voice that the prophet heard that encouraged the schism from the main Grinianist church.

Culture

The tenets of Grianism still effect the Litwatch people. They are a deeply zealous people who prize moral purity very deeply. They believe that honesty, chastity, piety, and discipline are the prime virtues, whereas dishonesty, lustfulness, atheism, and slovenly behaviours are sins.

The people of Litwatch, however, differ from their eastern neighbours of the same faith by believing that anyone who seeks the enlightened light of Grianism should be allowed to convert to it and be treated as equal by the followers of Grianism. They are a hospitable people and despite the forever holy war in their borders they are often on of the first kingdoms to respond by sending aid to others in times of foreign disaster.

The need for Templars is essential to Litwatch and every man is expected to be able to defend the faith. The great armour of the Grinian Crusaders is used by the Litwatch military as well, hulking suits of armour that protect the wearer greatly but at the expense of much of their movement. For this reason all men are trained to some degree in military skills.

Religion

The Litwatch Heresy as it is known in Grinia was brought about by the Prohpet Litwatch who preached that whilst Grinianism is the only true religion and that heretical beliefs should not be tolerated violence should only be brought about in true defence of the faith, not pre-emptive faith. The Prophet Litwatch also dismissed the practice of pure-blood breeding and claimed that any who embraced Grinia in their hearts would be granted the boons of that faith in the form of strength and haleness.

Thus the Litwatch branch of Grinianism was created and is now practiced throughout Litwatch, where it welcomes strangers into the land and teaches them the way of Grinia. "To open your door to the needy and bring them to the light is the most holy act one can do" is the motto of the country, and the religion.
