The Gurgedian Khaganate

The Gurgedian Khaganate

The southern plains of Gurgedia are the trailings of the Bogdrakhian Khaganate. It is here that some of the last vestiges of native dragons exist. These plains beasts hunt freely on protected land but unlike the great dragons of the past have become unintelligent in their conservation.

The Gurgedian forest makes up the most of the northern half of the coutnry all the way to the coastline. It is here that the nomading Gurgedian people live. They live amongst the trees, bending and weaving branches into shelters and hunting from the canopy. Nature and Gurgedia seek harmony with one another and the Khaganate thrives with the canopy.

Politics

Gurgedian politics is relatively simple with the religious druids holding the vast majority of domestic powers. They act as educators and leaders to their people. Gurgedia, is a khaganate, however, and the Khan holds oversight over all domains, a decision that was enacted after the Era of False Druids. The current Khan is Biró of The Lotus, Protector of the Canopy, and Watcher of Drakes.

Culture

The Gurgedian culture is based around the prominent Gurgedian species, a humanoid species that is close but not exactly akin to humans. They seek to live in balance with nature and a staunch conservationists within their lands. They take and give in equal measures and their lifestyles reflect this.

The Gurgedians do have cities, with buildings built from imported stone, or from hollowed out deadwood, or a combination of the two. Public works usually include tending to the environment around them. If they hunt, they use all parts of their prey.

When they take excess they share amongst their community, waste not and want not is the key take away. A Gurgedian would sooner hand over their spares to their worst enemy than see it go to waste. The gurgedians, however, are not pacifists. They protect their home with a ferocity rthat is often not matched anywhere else.

Religion

Gurgedians do not mandate religion or specific rites of worship. A popular cult in the khaganate is that of nature worship, or animism. There is no centralised religion, however. Druids are not religious leaders, but rather lore keepers. Whilst some Druids are themselves religious this is not part of the role.
