Steamian Empire

The Steamian Empire

The Steamian Empire is an empire of technology and artifice with nature being bent around the needs of the Empire. The vast forest lands being used to provide fuel for the machinations of the Empire. The technology has meant that the farming classes have shrunk down and factories provide luxuries to be traded across the world. Soldiers are equipped with high quality weaponry, and armour that can stand against the hardest blows without marking. The largess of the Empire creates a high quality of life and allows Steamia to be a solid foil to the advances to Curpeakia.

Politics

The Steamian Empire is ruled over by the council of makers, where artificers of reknown are granted a seat on the council and assigned projects for the betterment of Steamia. The artificers will be granted a workshop in the region they are sent to oversee and assigned a workforce to assist them.

Culture

The Steamian culture is completely meritocratic. If you can provide something of worth to the empire and the adancement of knowledge then there is a place for you wihtin the borders of the empire. If you can work hard then you can stay. The steamians have a distaste for those who they see as not working for the benefit of the empire and there is a degree of collectivism around this.

Workers receive food and care, children are educated and there specialities are nurtured to ensure they will be the most productive they can be. Healthcare is provided to all who need it, but if someone can no longer produce then they are no longer cared for.

The exception of this is the elderly who have worked their entire lives. Especially those who have contributed to the advancement of science or technology within Steamia. These people are cared for as the worth of their contribution ensures a proper pension. If a person enters or is born into Steamia who cannot contribute, however, they are moved on, forcibly, to the Pauper's Island, where their uses will be found.

Religion

Steamia is an atheistic society and religious worship of any form is frowned upon as often seen as counterintuitive to enquisitve thought and stifling of technological progress.
