See of Grinia

The See of Grinia

The Holy See of Grinia worships exclusively the God Grinia. This defines their entire existence. The realm was founded after the ascension of The Holy Emporer, who was believed to be the immaculately conceived son of Grinia. His rule lead to the Grinianism to be spread throughout the entier eastern half of Pania.

The Holy Emporer fought valiantly against all pagan faiths, pushing them back towards the sea and out of the land. He ruled absolutely and his children grew up to be holy crusaders. The strategy of ultimate defense of the holy land being baked into their very armour.

Following the death of The Holy Emporer his son ascended to the throne only to be immediately slain by the Ghostfordian Champion. It was the second son who avenged both Father and Brother in the great battle of Scorcrevil Mound. It was during this time that a prophet, a man by the name of Alius Litwatch claimed to hear the words of the Holy Emporer, offering guidance to the faithful after his death.

Outraged by the apparent blasphemy the Litwatch heresy was condemned and a new brutal war was fought that ended with the schism in a schism in the church and the splitting of the See.

Politics

A Crusade Oriented Theocracy is the political will of The See. The Grand Crusader and Guardian of the See is His Most Holy Excellence Vongvad the Red Hand. He exudes absolute control and is considered to be the will of Grinia. His councillors serve him with fervent zeal and the populace equally so. His Most Holy Excellence Vongvad the Red Hand leads the See from his seat of power in Grine, the holy fortified city.

Culture

The Culture of the See is completely intertwined to the beliefs and tenets of Grinianism. The people are generally xenophobic, mistrustful of foreigners. The See practices forced pairings in which couples are chosen to make sure the stock of the See are both pure in blood and strong in character. The holy text calls this pruning the garden of Grinia.

Scholars of other species and regions are allowed entry through Grinia but are never offered citizenship. Practitioners of other faiths are killed on sight. The completely authoritarian nature of the See means that the general populace tend to live in fear of the wrath of the crusaders or his inquisitors. It means festivities are limited to the those sanctioned directly by the church. Shows of faith and public penances are the norm, and public executions are common knowledge.

Religion

The religion of Grinianism is the telling of 'the one true' god who created everything. His will protects the world from evil and his displeasure is what allows evils into the world, so that the general population may be reminded who it is they serve. His tenets are those of unflinching loyalty to his will andw ord, and that his favoured people are those who kept faith in a world of chaos. He preaches the destruction ofother faiths and the cleansing of those who practice them. Some more extreme practitioners of this faith tend to vierw that as meaning destroy and kill all other faiths and their believers, rather than conversion.
