The Kingdom of Zord

The Kingdom of Zord is the result of the great orcish horde. The kingdom that came before, once known as Ulfar, was swarmed by migrating orcs invited at the behest of The Great Emporer of Elulalfana. The orcs swarmed upon the land so fast and with such ferocity that the defense mustered by the Ulfarans could not keep up. The armies were scattered, the people fled into Alran, Elulalfana, or even Steamia. The ground was salted as cities were razed so that no others would be encouraged to come the way the orcs did.

Many of the orcs moved on, heading into modern day Morb, or Alran. Some, however, stayed and found cities that had been untouched. They conquered these cities and rebuilt them in their own cultural image. Thus the Kingdom of Ulfar ended. The Orcish regions of the north turned on each other seeking to take over and gain land from their fellow settlers rather than try to fight established armies. This allowed Elulalfana, Alran, and Steamia to muster defences against the orcs and further dissuade them from more than raids across the borders.

Eventually the Orcs of Zord wanted to seek legitimacy and petitioned The Great Emporer for peace, alongside Alran. When asked what they wished for their kingdom to be called their leader called Otis had this exchange. "What do you mean?"
"You know... The Kingdom of..?"
"Mine. The Kingdom of Otis."
Thus it was decided the kingdom would be called Otis. Upon the passing of Otis, though, Orcish diplomats sent out missives to the other kingdoms to alert them to the ascension of Queen Alak. Thus The Kingdom of Otis became the Queendom of Alak. This naming tradition has stuck throughout the centuries.

Politics

The Kingdom of Zord is an absolute monarchy where the King oversees everything aided by advisors that are usually imported from both Steamia and Elulalfana. The current King of the Kingdom of Zord is King Zord.

Culture


The culture in The Kingdom of Zord is very similar to the Orcish culture of Merk, however, with water in even scarcer supply the internal disputes threatened to destroy the kingdom from within. As a result all tribes were disbanded and instead the orcs were united under a single tribe. This had the desired effect and created a far more collectivist mentality amongst the orcish people of Zord.

Organisation has been the key to the continued survival of the Zord Orcs. They organise pirate attacks in the Lake of Nariondenor, but do not run incursions overland. Overland raids tend to be into Morb or Dhodh county in Alran, where the Zord orcs will fight for resources over slaves. As a reuslt their raids are generally accepted by the other countries and whilst attempts to rebuff them are made there is little diplomatic fallout from these raids.

Religion

The orcish religion in Merk is practiced here as well with the belief that the progenitor orc who lives at the bottom of the Ugekh lake will rise up one day and provide great floods so that all orcs will know no thirst. In Zord, however, it is believed that the Nariondenor lake has the mother of the next orcs who will birth an even stronger breed of orc to lead the orcs into a golden age.
