Kingdom of Ustinwyn

The Kingdom of Ustinwyn

The Kingdom of Ustinwyn is another giant kingdom, however, it is one that has been severed from The Kingdom of Jarkigez. The forested lands give way to wetlands throughout and the giants here are fed nutrient rich water from the seasonal melts of the glaciers which surround Mount Casthore.

Once part of The Kingdom of Jarkigez, Ustinwyn was a prospering nation that provided many troops ready to face the great end battle. One fateful day, however, a rift burst into existence near Margagere and the eastern coast of Ustinwyn. The rift, whilst anomalous, did not interfere with life for many years. Eventually, however, great serpantine beasts began to pour forth from the rift. They conquered Margagere and abducted its populace. The rift close and the region began to recover.

After the second and third incursions the King of Jarkigez assigned a trusted general to marshall the region and launch an invasion into the rift. He assigned all powers of control over the region to the Marshall who was granted the title of King of Ustinwyn, Protectorate state of Jarkigez.

To this day the war rages on and the forces of the rift come more, and more frequently. The serpentine creatures rarely travel across the rift, but giant humanoid creatures frequently do. These giants bear the touch of primordial energies and wreak destruction in their wake. To date Margagere and Turak are held by the forces of the rift, and the entire province of Norke is mobilised into containing the rift.

Politics

The Kingdom of Ustinwyn is a militocracy with The King of Ustinwyn also serving as Marshall of Jarkigez. The Current King of Ustinwyn is King Ragir Thrunson The Rift Walker

Culture

The Culture of Ustinwyn is identical to Jarkigez, the military training, conscription rewarding with land upon retirement, all of it has maintained in the land. The only addition is that there are frequently calls for those willing to raid across the cataclysmic rift and lead an incursion against the enemy. Anyone who returns from this is given the Title of Riftwalker. There is only one living Riftwalker, as most do not return and those that do are often maimed to the point of being mortally wounded.

Religion

The Ustinwyn people, like most giants in Pania, believe in the inevitable final battle between the giants and the gods of Ghostfordia who slew the first giant to make the land. Ustinwyn also believe in preparing for the final battle, however, there is a belief amongst many in Ustinwyn is that the cataclysmic rift leads to the lands of the Ghostfordian Gods and should the Ustinwyn people manage to rebuff them and close the rift they will be able to grant the Giants more time to prepare for the final battle.
