Kingdom of Kilfirth

The Kingdom of Kilfirth

Where forest gives into the great plains of Bogdrakhia, is where the westernmost Giants can be found. The tall redwood forests loom large enough to hide the last of the green drakes, an offspring and diminished form of the ancient great dragons.

Kilfirth is considered to be the final refuge, a place of peace, where Giants who do not seek to take part in the great battle, can provide a place of stability for the inevitable refugee wave. The forests of Kilfirth are abundant with wildlife and forage, and the grassland plains to the north are where most turn their hand to agriculture.

Politics

The Kingdom of Kilfirth is ruled by a Triarchy. There are three monarchs, one for each province. The number of monarchs is to provide checks and balances on one another as well as provide a well rounded skillset to the leadership of the country.

The monarchs refer to their held council as "The Triarch Council."

The Triarch Council

The current members of The Triarch Council are:
  • The King of Berkhia - Dorin Alaksson
  • The Queen of Gurnatil and Wylere - Skola Tarjasdottir
  • The King of Lindushund - Gothar Hundmaestr

Culture

The Kingdom of Kilfirth was initially founded by a Schism between father and daughter. Ifri the daughter of the King of Jarkigez in times past, grew weary of the constant need to train a military. She argued that anyone who prepares only for war would never survive the time after. She then took many of their people and lead them across the Ustinwyn bay.

The place that she found and carved out an existence for her people in became the Kingdom of Kilfirth. After the passing of Ifri the leadership of their people was spread out amongst three individuals, who's bloodlines to this day hold rule. The kingdom is founded on the merit of preperation to survive past the end.

This prepper's spirit colours the people of Kilfirth greatly, and they fully believe in keeping larders stocked, and food supplies plentiful. Things are organised to the nth degree in Kilfirth, and the people reflect the organisation of the state. Homes are managed carefully as shirking one's duties of care and maintainence is frowned deeply upon.

The people are always happy to welcome others into their lands, and have no qualms for settlers chosing to live amongst them, but they will defend their sovereignty fiercly. There have been times in history where incursions from the Northern Nomads had threatened the Kingdom of Kilfirth and the people of the land rose up in "The Great Kilfirthian Militia" to beat them back. This openness to immigration has seen a large amount of humans from the east, displaced by the conquest of their lands by the Ghostfordians and Curpeakians, come to settle in Kilfirth after being sent on by the kingdoms in between.

Religion

The religion of Kilfirth is primarily that of Jarkigez, in which the giants believe themselves to be descendants of the first giant who was slain by the patriarchal god of the Ghostfordians. The Kilfirthian faith puts focus on surviving past the end battle that those in Jarkigez and Ustinwyn prepare for. To many others of the faith the Kilfirthian view of it is childishly naiive and a waste of good warriors, still the faiths do not outright denounce the kilfirthian view, perhaps even hedging their bets slightly by encouraging migrants towards the borders of Kilfirth.
