Siren/Canary

The Ancient City of Canary in the Nation of Siren is only reachable via Longan and Outpost Carcosa.   Outpost Carcosa is the underwater Outpost at the bottom of the ocean outside of the Nation of Longan. Due to the Hermes Line decommissioning between Tianne and Longan, the Outposts, Tiamat (on top of the ocean) and Carcosa, below Tiamat at the bottom of the ocean, serves as the only easy point of entry to Longan.    From Carcosa, tunnel access allows entry to Longan.   From Longan, to reach the City of Siren (which has grown since into a metropolis), it must only be done through submarines.   Siren was originally a small attachment to Longan. However, early expansion efforts led to the discovery of an ancient settlement in a previously hollowed-out cave (much like ancient cave cities above ground). This became an effort to develop Siren into its nation using the hollowed-out cave as a stepping stone.   Over time, the expansion of Siren also led to the discovery of large temples worshiping a female bodhisattva-like deity with large statues dedicated to her (resembling the statues in Longmen Grottoes). This human deity shown by the statue contains six arms and four eyes and is polycerate (mountain sheep + Pyrenean goat-like horns). If examined closely, the back of the head of this statue is also shown to be an otherwise human face, with a long extended tongue stuck out.   Besides this main statue, on either side, there are two additional smaller statues (four in total). However, these smaller statues are more so positioned like Greek statue columns. These four statues (one male and three females) appear more human-like, except with the addition of again horns on their heads (markhor, water buffalo, blackbuck, Nubaina ibex). Ancient stories tell the tale of five demons who apparently discovered the error of their ways and thrived to achieve Buddhahood. However, because of the grotesque features of the main statue, developers of Siren have deemed it to be previous pagan/satanist worshipers who settled there. Additionally, due to the remote location of Siren, communications via radio frequencies and cellular networks have proved difficult. Thus various development teams have gone missing navigating the tunnels of the ancient cave city. Some reports also indicate before communications would cut out and people went missing, teams would hear a faint song being sung in the distance (hence naming the location Siren). However, this may be due to carbon monoxide leaks within the caves.    This led to the decision that Siren is not a suitable location for human settlement, and expansion efforts have been abandoned.    However, when Longan was abandoned due to a mass fungal outbreak, survivors fled to the Siren and began developing the nation independently. Over time, it is said that further worship of the stated deities has allowed people to navigate the caves without successful incidents allowing it to be developed into a fully self-sufficient nation. Thus the nation of Siren and the main city of Canary is the only Inlander nation (despite not being officially recognized by the MUIN) to be religious.
