Moss Elk

Moss Elks are a new subspecies of Rocky Mountain Elk populating the majority of rocky mountain ranges lined across Elysian, Tianne, and the upper half of Meridian. The Elk has also been shown to migrate across Meridian to the marshlands of Chimera as well. One rare sighting has been stated in the Zion Canyon deserts.   The Elk is mostly associated with The Moss King, resembling The King in form and nature. Such that these creatures are shy and reserved, however, display high loyalty once trust is established. Like The Moss King, the elks' backs are covered with a thick layer of moss and have been stated by various local Outlander religions to be associated with the spirit of the mountain. Additionally, such as the antler crown of The Moss King, the antlers of the elks are red, which makes them appear to seem like it is constantly shedding their velvet (it should be noted that in this subspecies of elk, females can also sport antlers, but maybe smaller than males). Outlander legends also state that the elks' antlers tend to bleed as if, in actuality, shedding their velvet. Due to their sky nature, sightings are rare. On the occasions when one is spotted, it is told by an urban legend that an ecological/environmental disaster will soon occur at the location of the sighting.   Documented cases of disasters include but are not limited to:   Elysian: A large landslide buried a significant portion of the train entrance to an Inlander city. A sudden significant downpour/thunderstorm in the mountain ranges, posing a threat to whatever aircraft flying over.   Chimera: Deep dry weather led to forest fires, destroying most vegetation.   Zion: A rare sighting led to significant flooding in the Narrows, which caused various structural damage to Lazarus buildings within the Narrows.   Despite this, some Outlander Colonies have attempted to domesticate these delicate creatures. Like horses, Moss elks, due to their loyal nature, can be easily trained. Their large statues are highly suitable for various tasks, such as riding, carrying cargo, etc.   Only one documented case of successful domestication has been reported.
