Malamute Buckland Wolf

Malamute Buckland Wolves are the cross-species between Alaskan Malamutes and Alaskan Interior Wolves. Large in size, these creatures were initially crossed to breed a more prominent sledding dog breed for Outlander colonies living in snow-tundra climates. However, the wolf nature in these animals made them more independent, and they often do not follow commands easily unless pups are reared from birth in a careful and nurturing environment with human breeders (possibly in the mother's absence to prevent influences).   However, these creatures remain fiercely loyal despite their independence, showing protective behavior over people they care more about. These behaviors most likely stem from a perspective of viewing themselves as parents over their humans, and thus believes that instead of being trained by people, they need to train them and teach people how to live like wolves (such that people are their pups)   Nevertheless, their primal and wild natures lead them to live in the wild freely, and they tend to avoid contact with people they are unfamiliar with (this stems from the natural tendency to kill unfamiliar pups of other wolves to increase the chances of their own survival). Thus, sighting of unfamiliar wolves may be rare.   In the rear cases of training wolves to be sledding wolves, they can exert much effort and strength to hull the sled, showing clear superiority over regular dogs. Monah Caufield is the only current Malamute Buckland Wolf breeder that can train wolves to pull sleds. With this, she also acts as a courier service of provisions between various Outlander colonies within the snow-tundra regions (and can also act as a trader between the colonies and Outlanders and Inlanders).   When not acting as couriers, she and her wolves live in solitude in a remote location on the edge of the Elysian forests and the border of Alka Skerry.
