Dahlia Agnus Congregation

The Dahlia Agnus Congregation (DAC) is a reformed and evolved version of the ancient church of the Children of Maira. The manipulative and psychopathic Reverend Sonnik Daye leads the new church congregation.   On the surface, Sonnik Daye leads a congregation preaching acceptance and unity of different people (such as Inlanders and Outlanders) under the worship of a divine androgynous deity often not given a form. The deity is supposedly said to be a god/goddess of compassion, and some depiction of the deity may be said to resemble the Chinese depiction of Guanyin. However, instead of the bodhisattva sitting on a lotus flower, it is a young woman in a veil in prayer on a dahlia flower. This is the representation of the diety despite its androgynous nature because the woman, Dahlia Agnus, is believed to be the first messiah to be possessed by the divine host and thus has inspired the origin of the religion.   However, based on the older tradition of the church of the Children of Maira, the deity is The Maker (Maira being a loosely translated name of Maker from an ancient language from early linguistic writings).   Due to the old ritualist sacrifices of the old church of the Children of Maira (mutations, tortures, and such, all of which were done under the pretense of ridding the world of evil, but instead have created more evil/suffering in the world), the old church had been criminalized.   Thus, the new church was created under this disguise to allow people to worship The Maker again without being recognized. The image of Dahlia Agnus is also a reimagining of Danville Anya.   Danville Anya is an original leader of the church of the Children of Maira, who had convinced various families to sacrifice their children for the greater good (for example, Agnus promised parents that their children would be rejoiced in paradise (Isle of Man/Heaven) if they were tortured and their bodies were mutilated according to Agnus "prophetic" teachings from The Maker.   The new church DAC secretly carries onward the old traditions of the Children of Maira under the disguise of this new name.   The ultimate goal of the congregation is to worship The Maker. Essentially, The Maker and the congregation require more people to be part of this religion because they believe that the world is dying (i.e. all the ecological and environmental disasters), and The Maker is too weak to fix the world and with more followers. The Maker will be more powerful and will be able to fix the world.   They believe that a) there are too many people worshiping The Whore (The All-Mother, which in part makes her more powerful and is suppressing The Maker) and b) too many infidels not worshiping The Maker, thus making the Maker weaker as a result.   The Maker and the main belief of the congregation is that The Maker's powers stem from the total amount of "goodness" in the world. If people don't worship The Maker and therefore conform to the DAC subscription of "good", therefore they contribute towards the total amount of "evil" in the world (represented by The Whore). Thus, persuading others to join the congregation can increase the amount of "goodness" and thus can give more power to The Maker.   However, because reducing the number of infidels and those that worship the All-Mother (The Whore) can also contribute toward reducing the total "evil" in the world, the psychopathic leaders of the DAC (and the previous iteration Children of Maira) have also resorted to killing those not part of the congregation as a method of worship. Additionally, to "cleanse" themselves of their past infidelity, those that do join the congregation must a) a) an extreme method of initiation into the church. Depending on the sector, this initiation can stem anywhere from bodily mutation to prove devotion, sacrificing other infidels, or in less extreme cases convincing more people to join the congregation.   A major teaching from the church is that outside the church's influence can corrupt the soul. Thus, children must be born and raised in isolation, leading to various psychological isolation torture of the children born to the church.   To note: also, Danville Anya's name is not often known to the general public to maintain a) closeness to church, thus adopting the name Reverend Danville Maira b) living under an alias allowing for some anonymity under the law.   Additionally, an early form of DAC attempted to murder an early form of Dr. Calliope, believing her to be an incarnation of the All-Mother. They believed that Dr. Calliope an infidel possessing powers harnessed from the All-Mother, which the DAC and the Children of Maira believed to be a malevolent force against the benevolent force of The Maker (referring to her as The Whore). In a crude attempt to dispose the world of evil, the attempted murder of Dr. Calliope (various forms of torture led to the corruption of her mind).   Moreover, despite having various congregations worldwide, the main congregation sector is in Meridian, the central hub of both Inlanders and Outlanders.
