The Foreseeing

All dates given for Panessence are in the strange scheme of The Foreseeing, the ancient calendar of the Augurs of Edesenkol, sometimes also known as the Edesenkol Reckoning.   The prophecies of the Augurs are often vague and imprecise, but when dates are given, they are generally with respect to the cracking of the Great Femur in the heart of Edesenkol. As such, a date system based around this event - which has been painstakingly confirmed by years of recording various prophecies that have come to pass - as a particular year of common reference. In use since the time of Mattiha, it is the preferred system for those who study the greatest range of recorded history, and as a common system between different nations and disciplines.   When it is necessary to clarify the system used, the format "2,345 Foreseen" is used to identify a year. Dates before the cracking are "Less Foreseen", and dates after are "More Foreseen".   On the date of the great cracking, many Augurs and sightseers gather, hoping to perceive the greatest prophecy of all.   other calendar systems:
