House-of-forms Faiths

House-of-Forms is a religious role, ultimately funerary in form, where a trained individual absorbs the core essence from the body of the dead (which subsequently "disappears"). They are then able to reconstitute that form out of nearby material as golem-like servants. To do so ( while obviously powerful) is extremely disrespectful and taboo, and only fallen or unorthodox Houses-Of-forms typically do this - Lheyad is one such individual.   This spiritual practice is known and followed all around the Bindkelp Sea, from Dow to Elritund to the Burnished Isles. It is associated as the funeral traditions of a number of different faiths:   related faiths:
  • Binkelp Pantheon: a conglomeration of the local gods of the east and northern coasts, worshiped still in Eltritund, the north-west, and coastal Caracar, and syncretised with Gyrism in areas of the current and former Blackpowder Coast. has thousands of gods, many with extremely specific domains, in a series of messy, overlapping and fractious sub-pantheons, generally united under a fate and trickster deity known as The Shaper who has stolen the Sceptre of Creation and become ruler of all reality. Originally, most gods were mainly worshipped near the cities they developed in, but many are now displaced from their original locations by the waves of warfare and change that have swept the area over the intervening millennia. Regards Father Deep of the Nidari Reach as a devil or adversary.
  assimilated faiths:
  • Blackpowder Coast Gyrism: The Shaper is considered to be a servant or personification of The Gyre, with their exploits secretly advancing the union of all essence in a paradise.
  Questions:
  • did the Bamboo Dowo pick up this practise during their travels?
  • what is the justification for house-of-forms under the Bindkelp Pantheon?
  • what are the sub-pantheons and most important gods?
  • what is the afterlife of this faith like?
